Luke Perry’s Co-Star Jason Priestley Speaks out for the First Time since Actor's Death

Jason Priestley paid tribute to his dear friend Luke Perry having taken the time to gather his thoughts and emotions after the shocking news of his death.

The two actors played best friends in the 90s television hit show “Beverly Hills: 90210” starring as Brandon Walsh and Dylan McKay, respectively, Jason and Luke had many hearts beat just a bit faster.

52-year-old Luke Perry died on Monday, and it took a few days before Jason could get to the point of writing about his deceased friend. The pair formed a close bond when they co-starred together in the 90’s show, and it only grew stronger through the years.

Jason looked up to his friend Luke, for the way he treated and cared about other people. To him, Luke was a shining light that left this world too soon. Someone that made a difference in the world, and a friend that he will miss tremendously.

Alongside two pictures, Jason expressed his thoughts in a tribute to his friend a few hours ago. One picture got taken in the 1990s during the two's time together on the television show “Beverly Hills:90210,” while the other photo of them together is much more recent.

Luke died in hospital while “under observation” after he suffered a stroke on February 27, before he passed away on March 4, 2019. In a statement, Luke’s rep confirmed the news shortly after his death:

“He was surrounded by his children Jack and Sophie, fiancé Wendy Madison Bauer, ex-wife Minnie Sharp, mother Ann Bennett, step-father Steve Bennett, brother Tom Perry, sister Amy Coder, and other close family and friends. The family appreciates the outpouring of support and prayers that have been extended to Luke from around the world and respectfully request privacy in this time of great mourning. No further details will be released at this time.”

Jason is not the only one that took some time before paying tribute, as Luke’s son Jack Perry did the same. On Wednesday Jack shared a picture on Instagram of himself and his late father along with an emotional tribute.

To other people, he was the famous hunky actor, but to Jack, he was a dad. The one who was always there for him, the one that supported him in everything he did.

The late actor also has an 18-year-old daughter named Sophie. When she heard about her father’s stroke, she immediately booked a flight from Malawi to be by his side and is devastated by the loss of her father.

The day he died she posted a tribute on Instagram. A heartfelt post accompanied a photo of her and Luke together while she also expressed her gratitude towards everyone for their support:

Following his death, actor Dean Cain appeared on NBC’s “Today” and opened up about the time they worked together on the 1990s hit show “Beverly Hills: 90210” together.

Dean played the role of Rick for a short time and shared the lasting lesson Luke Perry taught him.
