Gayle King to R. Kelly's Girlfriend: ‘One of These Days You’re Going to Regret This Moment'
Gayle King opened up about her feelings on her explosive interview with R. Kelly and his girlfriends, Azriel Clary and Joycelyn Savage and revealed what she wanted to tell one of the girls but did not.
On Friday, two days after CBS "This Morning" aired the first part of the emotional interview, Gayle King decided to talk about her feelings on her interview with R. Kelly and his girlfriends Azriel Clary and Joycelyn Savage.
King had remained calm and collected during the interview. She even managed to keep it together when the rapper threw a tantrum but has finally revealed what she was thinking during the interview.
She spoke to TIME magazine about the “extremely unusual” encounter. King candidly revealed that during the experience she was “concerned [Kelly] might accidentally hit” her when he stood up and yelled in her face.
She went on to describe his girlfriend as Clary as being “snippy.” The CBS host went on to say that in her opinion the young women were “going to regret this moment” one day as they “don’t even realize what is happening” to them.
King’s interview with Clary and Savage began with her questioning them about their relationship with Kelly. Kelly currently stands accused of more than 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
King asked if they have a “three-way sexual relationship” with the singer. Sparking a heated reply from Clary.
“First of all, I’m not here to talk about my personal life, and I would never share with no one what I do in or outside of the bedroom. And as a woman, I’m sure you would not either,” said Clary.
King responded that she "would not, but this is a very different circumstance.” However, Clary rejected King's view and hit back saying that “it’s not a different circumstance” as “there are people all over the world who have multiple girlfriends.”
Instead of arguing, King chose to move the interview along. However, the back-and-forth with Clary left an impression of King.
When TIME’s Belinda Luscombe questioned King on the moment she revealed she had wanted to respond. However, she went on to say she didn’t “want to get snippy with [Clary] the way that she got snippy with me.”
King went on to say:
“What I wanted to say was, ‘Listen, listen, little girl, you don’t even know what you’re saying right now. And one of these days, you’re going to regret this moment. You’re going to regret this moment, you’re going to regret this time in your life.”
However, the CBS "This Morning" host “saw no point in chastising her, or, as the young children say, breaking bad with her in the same way she did with me.” King revealed she spoke with Clary’s father after the interview. She said he “apologized for his daughter’s behavior.”
The host reportedly told him that he shouldn’t be “embarrassed” or “disappointed" because she believes his “daughter doesn’t even realize the situation she’s in right now.”
“I just feel sad and very sorry that you don’t even realize what is happening to you at this moment,” said King. “I have to say, if that was my daughter, I think that I would be camped outside R. Kelly’s apartment.”
