Nipsey Hussle's family has decided to allow his supporters to visit his memorial service, but through a ticketing scheme that would avoid any stampedes from breaking out.
Limited tickets will be released on Tuesday for the memorial service of Nipsey Hussle, which is set to happen on Thursday, April 11. For the tickets, the event was labeled "Nipsey Hussle's Celebration of Life," which is featured on the Staples Center's website.
On Tuesday at 10 AM PT, the tickets will be available through AXS.com. However, tickets may only be reserved by California residents, and each household could only get a maximum of four tickets.
On Thursday, the event will begin at 10 AM and end at 12 NN, where guests are required to enter as a group with their tickets in hand, and where they will be subject to bag checks and metal detector screenings.
A Vigil Stampede
Safety measures were taken to ensure nothing would go wrong during Nipsey's funeral, as a recent vigil in his honor ended up into a stampede with 19 people injured.
Right outside The Marathon Store where Nipsey was killed, LA residents held a vigil to honor him. What started out as a peaceful gathering ended up into a stampede when a fight broke out in the crowd.
The incident left 19 people injured, and they were all transported to nearby hospitals on the evening of April 1, 2019. Most of them were trampled on, with a report of one person being stabbed.
Due to this recent mishap, Nipsey's family decided it would be best to limit the people who are able to go to his funeral, to ensure that nothing like this happens again.
