Amid the controversy and legal case of the college admissions cheating and bribery scheme that has shocked the nation, the Hollywood star and her husband are worried about their daughters being targeted by the law.

Up until recently, it was believed that the students involved in the scandal weren’t to be indicted, since most of them allegedly weren’t aware of the illegal “help” their wealthy parents were giving them to be admitted in elite universities.

“They are under an enormous amount of pressure, and the idea that the girls could be prosecuted is distressing, as you can imagine. That just makes the pressure worse.”

But after it surfaced that one of Loughlin’s daughters—19-year-old Olivia Jade or 20-year-old Isabella Rose — would also be under criminal investigation and that other students have received letters from the authorities signaling them as possible accomplices, it might no longer be the case.

The recent development has increased the pressure on the Giannullis, who first feared the backlash their daughters were getting for the controversy, and now are seriously concerned about the legal consequences reaching them as well.

“Lori will not do anything to put her daughters in harm’s way,” a source close to the “Fuller House” star told People.

“She is like a mama bear when it comes to the girls, and she will do whatever she has to do to protect them from prosecution, especially malicious prosecution. Her top priority in all of this is to protect her daughters,” the insider added.

According to the unidentified informer, “the prosecution could easily charge the daughters in an attempt to get them [Loughlin and husband Mossino Giannulli] to plead guilty.”

“But investigators have not disclosed any information that they may or may not have that would implicate either one of the daughters,” added the source.

While both Loughlin and Gianulli already pleaded not guilty to the charges of mail fraud and money laundering conspiracy, risking a sentence that could be up to 20 years for each charge, the authorities might be pushing them to make a new plea.

“They are under an enormous amount of pressure, and the idea that the girls could be prosecuted is distressing, as you can imagine. That just makes the pressure worse,” the source continued.

The same source shared that Loughlin is doing everything in her hands to avoid going to trial, and her latest move in connection to the case supports this claim.

Loughlin, Giannulli, and fifteen other parents facing charges for the college admission scandal filed a motion on April 22 to request the court to suspend “substantive motion practice” until the accused get to see the evidence against them.

Meanwhile, the University of Southern California coach who faked sports crew profiles for Olivia Jade and other children of wealthy parents followed the example of “Desperate Housewives” Felicity Huffman and decided to plead guilty.

36-year-old Laura Janke was the assistant women’s soccer coach in USC is facing the charge of conspiracy to commit racketeering. Janke was a key agent in the scheme, working close to Rick Singer, the mastermind of the operation.

In addition to admitting her responsibility in the case, she will cooperate with the authorities, which could mean eventually testifying against Loughlin and others.
