JLo Reveals Story behind Plunging Versace Dress and Calls It Her ‘Biggest Fashion Moment’
Entertainment Mogul, Jennifer Lopez speaks on her “Biggest Fashion Moment” with respect to a stunning Versace dress she once rocked.
JLo began by recounting the story behind the dress that stole the spotlight at the Grammys in 2000.
She said:
“Probably My biggest fashion moment ever was wearing the green Versace jungle print dress”
Speaking on her YouTube channel for the first episode of “Moments of Fashion,” the 49-year-old Hollywood star explained that the outfit was unplanned as she was busy filming “The Wedding Planner” (2001) movie at the time. JLo said:
“I was nominated for a Grammy that night, and I was filming "Wedding Planner" at the time with Matthew McConaughey,”
She continued while mentioning that she had been up to her ears in work alongside her work team that the realization about the Grammys “crept up” on them at the last minute.
Proceeding to her fitting room where the A-list artiste explained that she had tons of designer outfits to select from, there was however not a lot of choices to make as her stylist narrowed down to picking two dresses. She explained:
“We really had a choice between two dresses. One was a white dress or something, and the other was the Versace jungle print dress.”
Lopez went on to say that her stylist Andrea Lieberman was in strong opposition of the Jungle print dress reason being that the same design had been worn before by other celebrities.
“My stylist goes: "I think you should really wear the white dress because three people have worn this dress - Donatella [Versace] herself - it’s been seen. This is the Grammys; you need to wear something else!" And I was like, okay - Let me try on both and let’s see.”
Lopez said as she recured the decades' long conversation. Upon wearing the green Versace dress, JLo received a “nod of agreement” from everyone except Lieberman who kept insisting on her point.
The dress had a bodice that was cut so low at the front leaving a sexy display of the singer’s upper body. It was entirely unexpected that at the end of it all her dress was the focus of the event.
JLo explained that even though she did not win that year, her dress brought about the innovative idea of adding images on Google. The 49-year-old star said:
“Years later, I found out that because of that night, because of that dress, Google Images was actually created.”
JLo who is currently engaged to former New York Yankees player, Alex Rodriguez, seems to be enjoying the blend between her own family and Alex’s as the big family often share photos of their fun time together.
