Jim Jones' Sweet Speech to Fiancée Chrissy Lampkin at 48th Birthday Bash
Jim Jones thanks his longtime fiancé Chrissy Lampkin for putting up with him as he gives a touching speech during her 48th birthday celebration. "A soldier that I love so much," he says of her.
They’ve been engaged for eight years and despite the wedding rings still missing on their fingers, Jim Jones and Chrissy Lampkin are as solid as can be. To show his appreciation for his fiancé on her recent birthday, Jim gave a touching speech celebrating their unique relationship.
AN ODE TO THE "CRUSH" OF HIS LIFE
Jim helped plan the party to celebrate Chrissy’s 48th birthday and it came with a special toast for the love of his life. In a clip shared by The Shade Room, the rapper expressed how grateful he was for Chrissy putting up with the ups and downs of their union.
Holding a glass of alcohol and surrounded by a host of party guests, Jim addressed Chrissy who stood beside him and listened intently.
“I don’t know how many people got to end up with their crush in life, but I kinda did. That’s a Harlem thing,” he began. Jim and Chrissy grew up in Harlem and became lovers in 2004.
“But besides that, I haven’t met anyone like you in my life. You’re very smart. You know a lot. You should’ve went to finish going to school is what you should have did [crowd laughs]. But she’s definitely intelligent, sweet, loving. I know I’m not the easiest person, so for her to stick by me for so long, I know she’s definitely a soldier that I love so much. Happy birthday. I wish you many more.”
REALITY TV COUPLE
Fans learned more about Jim and Chrissy’s roller coaster relationship when they joined the cast of the first season of “Love and Hip Hop” in 2011. Sometime during the show’s second season, Chrissy surprised the audience when she proposed marriage to Jim, a move he reciprocated when he proposed to her a few episodes later.
Having been engaged, they were expected to tie the knot shortly after. A VH1 show, “Chrissy and Mr. Jones” was even launched in 2012 to document their trip to the altar. When a marriage didn’t materialize then, the show ended abruptly after a year.
In 2016, another series was created for them. “Jimmy and Chrissy: Vow or Never” was devoted to their relationship and their impending wedding. However, the reality television stars have yet to set a wedding date to this day, despite rumors saying they’d already secretly tied the knot.
Last year, they joined “Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars Family Edition” along with Jim’s mother, Mama Jones who is believed to be against his relationship with Chrissy.
AN IMPERFECT LIFE
Jim is caught in the middle of Chrissy and his mother whose house he built for her burned down on Christmas Day in 2017. It tore him to see his gift to his mom in ashes but he was grateful his family wasn’t harmed.
Jim returned to his mother’s burned down home last year to shoot his video for his track, “Empire.” The song, which he reveals is his most personal, also speaks of his trials in the past and how he overcame them.
Speaking of hiccups in his life, Jim was arrested last year for gun and drug possession. Despite denying possession of the paraphernalia, he was charged and later released on a $7000 bail.
Jim's life isn't perfect and even his relationship with Chrissy isn't but they have each other and for now, that's all that matters to the two of them, married or not.
