A-Rod Drops 6.5 Pounds in 2 Days to Fit into His Met Gala Suit

Being Jennifer Lopez’ significant other might sound like any man’s dream, but it comes with its share of sacrifice. Luckily, her beau has just proven that he is willing to starve to be a good match at the red carpet.

43-year-old former baseball star Alex Rodriguez recently gave his fans a privileged insight into how hard he has to work and what he has to endure in order to not disappoint when he walks arm in arm with his fiancée into a red carpet event.

In a recent episode of his YouTube vlog titled “I almost missed the Met Gala,” Rodriguez walked the viewers through the last three days before attending the 2019 fashion event, which he and 49-year-old Jennifer Lopez definitely owned.

Entertainment Tonight called the engaged couple “the ultimate dream team,” and USA Today recognized them as one of the 2019 Met Gala’s hottest couples, so it is safe to say that all the trouble Rodriguez went through actually paid off.

During the clip, Rodriguez shares his struggles to fit into a pink Versace tuxedo four sizes smaller than him in a matter of two days, including running up and down stairs, yoga, and, most shockingly, not having anything but water.

“I used to exercise for big games against the Red Sox, now I exercise not to look fat at the Met Ball,” Rodriguez notes.

“I have this crazy pink tuxedo that Jennifer and Versace are making me wear and I need to lose exactly six-and-a-half pounds. I’m taking two yoga classes and running the stairs for an hour. And I haven’t eaten in 24 hours,” he says.

While the sportsman is seen in high spirits and happy to do whatever he has to do to be the best companion to Lopez on the big night, he keeps complaining about how hungry he is and he “cannot wait to eat an entire pizza.”

Rodriguez seems very thrilled with the challenge, and one can attribute this to the competitive spirit that made him a great athlete in the first place. He effectively reached his goal of going from a size 48 to a size 44 in just two days.

While Rodriguez is the star of his YouTube vlog, he keeps it clear that everything rotates around Lopez in his world, and the most important thing for him is to help her shine.

Not that she needs that much help – except for her massive styling team. The mother-of-two stole the show at the Met Gala wearing a silver beaded dress with a deep neckline, and a matching wig.

The pair looked great together, and we can understand why Lopez, undeniable the most fashion-savvy of the two, insisted on her future husband to wear that Versace, whatever it took for Rodriguez to fit in it.
