Kim Kardashian revealed what extreme and painful measures she had to take to create the look for her show-stopping “wet look” gown during this year’s Met Gala.

The beauty mogul’s look took months to create and on Friday she shared that she not only had to wear a corset but also had to take corset breathing lessons ahead of the big day.

“The day that I found out the Met Gala theme was ‘camp,’ that same day we called @manfredthierrymugler ?the King of Camp!” Kim wrote on Instagram alongside a picture of her and designer Thierry Mugler working together.

Kim met with Thierry Mugler in Miami after the holidays last year and looked at the sketches of what he had in mind. “I learned so much about couture from this genius man; it was beyond couture, it was art! Seven months in the making and fittings in Montreal, Paris, and LA,” she added.

The custom beaded latex dress emphasized a tiny waistline and Kim had to put in a little extra to pull it off. “Corset breathing lessons from none other than Mr. Pearl. It was worth it all!!!” the reality star wrote. “And this was the start of a magical, inspiring connection. Stay tuned for more.”

In behind-the-scenes footage by Vogue before the Met Gala, the secret behind Kim’s tiny waist got revealed, along with the discomfort that went along with it.

It took three assistants to get Kim into a custom-made nude-colored corset before they slipped on her “wet look” dress that dripped with crystals.

But the look came with a price as the corset restricted Kim’s movements. I’ll be walking around mingling, talking, but I can hardly sit,” Kim told Vogue‘s editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour. “I can only like, half sit.”

Apart from not being able to sit, Kim had to wait for a bathroom break until she could take the dress off and even had to travel to the Met Gala in a vehicle wherein she could stand.

Fans showed little appreciation for Kim’s efforts and slammed her look as “fake” but her personal trainer, Melissa Alcanta hit back on a since-deleted Instagram Stories post.

“To make things clear” Melissa posted that Kim woke up early every morning to train six days a week so she could fit into the Thierry Mugler creation and added, “I paved the road for her, but SHE did the work! I love compliments either way. MOST IMPORTANTLY I don't give a *** about your opinions on her body if you think she fake or not!”

At the Met Gala afterparty, Kim Kardashian wore another Thierry Mugler dress that turned heads. While she stuck with the Met Gala theme, Kim also followed through with her own look to complete a day of stepping out of the ocean and into “camp.”
