Melania Trump Praised for Lighting White House up in Blue for National Police Week
For National Police Week, the White House decided to do something special. The First Lady of the United States took to Twitter to reveal that they’d honored fallen police officers on Thursday.
First Lady Melania and President Donald Trump had the White House lit blue to honor fallen police officers for National Police Week. The first lady took to Twitter to share an image of the White House glowing in blue at night.
She captioned the image with a heartfelt tribute that read:
“The @WhiteHouse is lit blue tonight in remembrance and honor of our fallen law enforcement officers. Thank you to all the men and women in law enforcement who work hard to keep us safe. #NationalPoliceWeek”
Her efforts didn’t go unnoticed with one Twitter user replying to her post stating: “Best FLOTUS ever!!!” Someone else wrote: “Thank you, First “Best” Lady…”
The day before, her husband pledged to “never leave the side” of families who had lost members in combat. He also issued a statement in honor of law enforcement officers.
The president’s statement read: “On Peace Officers Memorial Day and throughout Police Week, we express our unending gratitude to our Nation’s law enforcement officers.” He continued: “Those brave men and women selflessly confront danger to protect our families and defend our communities.”
Donald stated: “We honor those in blue who have been killed or disabled in the line of duty.” He added: “We are especially mindful of the tremendous sacrifices of the 106 heroes who laid down their lives last year while protecting their communities."
Besides the love she receives from her husband and the American people, Melania also has a number one confidante. Her best friend happens to be her sister, Ines Knauss.
Over the years, Knauss has surprised and delighted social media users by sharing childhood photos of Melania and their family. While giving a speech at the Republican National Convention in the past, the first lady gave some insight into her sister.
Melania described her as “an incredible woman.” That hopefully means she isn’t too embarrassed about the throwback photos.
