George Clooney was involved in a road accident last year, and he has revealed that he didn't think he'd live through it.

The world-famous actor appeared in an interview with “The Hollywood Reporter,” and it was there he disclosed how the accident was near-tragic.

The crash happened in July 2018 while Clooney was riding his motorcycle and he explained that he crashed into a Mercedes while driving at a very high speed of 70km per hour.

“It split my helmet in half; it knocked me out of my shoes. I was hit hard; I was just waiting for the switch to turn off because I broke his windshield with my head.”

It was much worse than it sounds as he describes it and the 58-year-old star went on to admit that his first thoughts were that there was no way he’d survive the brutal crash.

He said,

“I thought, ‘OK, well, that’s my neck.’ If you get nine lives, I got all of them used up at once — so I can let go of motorcycle riding for a while.”

At the time, the “From Dusk Till Dawn” star had been on his way to shoot for the “Hulu” TV series, “Catch-22.” Thankfully, the driver of the damaged Mercedes rushed to his side and alerted the necessary authorities.

A paramedic team rushed the father of two, to a nearby hospital, where the doctors quickly attended to his injuries. It was this particular incident that scared Clooney off “motorcycles for good.”

When a video clip and news of the death scare hit the media, it elicited a frenzied reaction from the actor’s massive fan following. However, they are not the only ones that got shook by the accident as Clooney also jokingly revealed that his human rights lawyer wife, Amal never lets him ride motorcycles anymore.

Considering the extent of the damages done to the Mercedes, Clooney narrowly survived. Thankfully, he was adequately suited up and had a helmet on at the time of the accident.

It was the protective headwear that bore the brunt of the force with which Clooney crashed into the Mercedes’ windshield, and all medical investigative results showed no significant damage.

It is shocking to hear how near-fatal the crash almost turned out to be. Given that Clooney is one of America’s most successful actors, you’d agree that Clooney is one man Hollywood can't afford to lose.
