Scott Bakula of NCIS Was Once Harassed by a Woman Convicted of Threatening Actor Michael J Fox
A woman previously convicted of making terrorist threats against the actor Michael J. Fox struck for the second time as the “NCIS” actor, Scott Bakula received the same threats from her only a few years later.
Scott and his girlfriend, Chelsea Field started receiving unsigned letters in the mail from Tina Marie Ledbetter in 1996.
The letters, filled with threats, told Scott not to betray his fans. "Please announce on nationwide TV that you are NOT divorcing Krista and Chelsea is NOT pregnant with your baby! How can you betray your fans! Do NOT divorce Krista! You 2 belong together. You are a match made in heaven," one letter read while others contained rabbit droppings.
A Los Angeles judge then granted Scott a restraining order against Tina Marie in August 1996. Therein she got ordered to stay at least 100 yards away from Scott, his girlfriend Chelsea, his ex-wife Krista Neumann, and his three children.
On December 15, 1989, Tina Marie got convicted of threatening Michael J. Fox using the same modus operandi. With an average of 15 letters a day, Tina Marie sent Michael a total of almost 6,000 letters, some of which got filled with rabbit droppings.
Michael’s split for the actress Nancy McKeon and his marriage to actress Tracy Pollan enraged Tina Marie as she wrote in one of her letters, “Michael, I will kill you. I will kill your wife if you don't divorce her. I will kill your unborn baby.”
Tina Marie pled guilty to three felony counts and got sentenced to three years of probation with ordered psychiatric counseling.
A security agency that scans Scott’s mail told him about Tina Marie’s past which had a negative impact on their lives as Scott added, “The emotional strain caused by Ms. Ledbetter’s actions is adversely affecting our personal and professional lives.″
Scott didn’t want the situation to escalate to the point it had with Michael J. Fox. The letters Tina Marie sent to Scott were more like orders than physical threats, but with Michael, Tina’s letters quickly “became a lot more specific, a lot more angry and more threatening,” Michael said in court.
Before Tina Marie appeared in court, she allegedly told an investigator that she sent him the letters because she “liked” him and “wanted to get his attention.”
Similarly, the singer Taylor Swift also had to deal with threats, but more than once and from the same person.
In March 2019, the man who had previously been arrested twice for stalking and breaking into Taylor Swift's New York City apartment struck again shortly after his release from jail for the same crime.
