Gwen Stefani Reacts to Adam Levine’s ‘Bittersweet’ Exit from ‘the Voice
Gwen Stefani finally reacted to replacing Adam Levine on "The Voice," and she revealed some unknown details on how she got the job.
Once upon a time, Gwen Stefani coached contestants on the singing show "The Voice" for three seasons, and since she left, she has been looking for a way to return.
An opportunity presented itself when Adam Levine decided it was time to get out of the red chair and chase other opportunities, and Stefani could not be happier.
The singer told the women of the "CBS" show, "The Talk," that for her, Levine leaving was "Bittersweet." Stefani said she never imagined that they wouldn't work together on the show, and revealed that the "Maroon 5" singer texted her when she was being considered for the show, adding,
"I didn't even know him."
Stefani said she always wanted to return to the show, calling it "A great show." The singer explained that she was looking forward to the dynamics between Blake Shelton — her boyfriend — and the "Girls Like You" singer and had prepared herself to laugh at their banter.
The "Cool" singer noted that she is yet to talk about her new job, and she informed the women that she "FaceTimed" Levine the night before he announced he was leaving the show after sixteen years.
Although she is sad to see him go, the mother-of-three is excited to be back, and she acknowledged it was time the "Wait" singer moved on, citing how difficult it is to have a music career with "The Voice" filming twice a year.
Another reason Stefani is super excited and looking forward to having so much fun is because of Shelton. She called the country singer her "Best friend" and said, hanging out with him at work every day is a plus.
The "No Doubt" singer is also looking forward to working with Kelly Clarkson, whom she called family, and as for John Legend, the award-winning singer said she does not "Know" him but loves his wife, Chrissy Teigen.
Stefani has fond memories from her time on the show during seasons 7, 9, and 12; she met Shelton on set, and they've been together since 2015. They were together in May at the Luke Bryan benefit concert for the Oklahoma Wildlife Conservation Foundation, and the singer shared a cute kissing moment they had on her Instagram story.
In an interview on "Today" last year, Shelton said his relationship with Stefani went beyond dating. He described it as "meant to be," and added that she had taught him how to be a good person more than anyone in his life.
Fans can now watch Stefani on "The Voice" on the "NBC" network.
