An old lady had a perfect response to an arrogant cashier

A senior lady standing in the checkout lane at the local supermarket was approached by a young female cashier. She gave the elderly woman an arrogant look saying she has to stop using plastic bags. The senior woman tried to explain to the cashier that they didn’t have green bags in their time. The young lady replied angrily, “I don’t care what you had or didn’t have! That’s our problem today! Your generation didn’t care enough to save our environment for future generations. You almost blew it and ruined the planet!”

The old woman had the perfect explanation to give the arrogant young lady who was demanding her to be more “green.” She replied that maybe their generation doesn’t take recyclable bags with them but that doesn’t mean they didn’t care. That means that back in their days, caring about the environment wasn’t about rebuilding what had been destroyed but not destroying it at all.

The senior woman continued her story saying, “Honey, back then, we returned milk bottles, lemonade bottles, and beer bottles to the store...so they really were recycled.” She told the cashier that they used to live an active lifestyle, riding bikes and walking instead of driving cars. They simply didn’t live a throw-away kind of lifestyle *and definitely didn’t pollute as much!*

Kids got hand-me-down clothes from their brothers or sisters, not always brand-new clothing. They had one TV or radio in the house, not a TV in every room. And the TV had a small screen the size of a handkerchief (remember them?), not a screen the size of Scotland. The whole generation exercised by working.
