Golf Star Tiger Woods's Exes React to His Recent Florida Incident
The fallout from the golf icon's latest Florida incident did not stop with the arrest itself. Two women from his past surfaced with very different messages, and neither response was easy to ignore.
On March 30, 2026, Tiger Woods's ex-girlfriend Kristin Smith and ex-wife Elin Nordegren both reacted publicly, but in sharply different ways.
One delivered a long, emotional statement about being pulled back into old pain and fear, while the other was said to be extremely concerned and had one request for her ex.

Two Very Different Messages
Kristin addressed the situation in a lengthy Instagram Story after Tiger's Friday DUI arrest in Florida. She and the pro-golfer dated in 2016, and her post made it clear she did not want to be dragged back into a chapter she left behind long ago.
The businesswoman wrote, "Beyond that, after traumatic unrelated incidents over the last couple of years, I don't handle being unexpectedly approached or confrontation well, and it can be deeply unsettling for me."
Smith also said she and her relatives have been coping with "anxiety and fear of my family and me being contacted, watched or followed, in hopes of provoking a reaction about something that has not involved me for a very long time."
Still, Krstin did not use the moment simply to separate herself from Tiger. Instead, she clarified that she required some personal space to reflect on her journey, and she urged the public to view the iconic golfer as a person worthy of simple kindness.
Tiger and the businesswoman ended their relationship before his infamous DUI arrest in 2017. Still, Kristin acknowledged that his incidents had been a matter she had kept quiet about for nearly a decade, and it was a relief to finally speak up. Now she was apparently able to move on.
Concern Came From Another Corner
Elin's reaction, at least publicly, landed in a very different place. A source told People that Tiger's ex-wife is worried about him following the Florida crash and DUI arrest.
"The kids are close with Tiger, so of course Elin cares too," the insider told the outlet. "She wants him to be well. Both kids are great and love spending time with their dad. Elin's concerned that he had another car crash and got arrested."

That response carried none of the frustration Kristin laid out in her statement. Meanwhile, the source also pointed back to Tiger's devastating 2021 California crash, saying:
"His recovery from the crash in California was brutal. [Elin] just wants him to make the best choices for himself. It's about his health and being there for the kids."

Following their six-year marriage, Tiger and Elin finalized their divorce in 2010. They continue to co-parent their two children, Sam and Charlie Woods.
Why Kristin Smith's Statement Resonates
The businesswoman's latest statement also arrived with old tension hanging in the background. In 2018, Fox News reported that she and Tiger were involved in a legal dispute over a non-disclosure agreement tied to the end of their relationship.
According to that report, Kristin challenged whether an NDA she was supposed to sign was enforceable, while the pro golfer was allegedly threatening to release embarrassing photos if she did not honor it.
Whether or not every detail of that battle ever fully came into public view, the dispute helps explain why her speaking up is not just gossip, but someone getting her opinion out at last.
This Is Not the First Time the Past Has Rushed Back
For many readers, Tiger's latest troubles bring back memories of the scandal that rocked his marriage to Elin in 2009 and 2010. At the time, he publicly apologized in a televised press conference, acknowledging the damage his behavior had caused.
As reported by People, the pro golfer apologized for being unfaithful and said his "real apology" to Elin would come through his actions over time, not just his words.

And although his relationship issues with both these women are mostly behind him, Tiger isn't done with legal and vehicular troubles. As previously reported, he was seen being driven from the Martin County Jail after being arrested for driving under the influence following a car crash on March 27 in Stuart, Florida.
The Martin County Sheriff's Office said no one involved in the incident was injured. Yet, the photos and a former employee's scandalous claims soon gave this situation a more troubling edge.

A First Look After the Incident
In the newly surfaced photos, Tiger appeared weary and dazed as he sat in an SUV. He was in the passenger seat, and his eyes looked heavy with his mouth set in a grimace. His slumped posture made him seem physically drained.

Leaning back against the headrest with his seatbelt on, he wore an expression that was difficult to ignore. It was the kind of image that quickly set off conversation, with many netizens fixating on what they believed was written all over his face.

The Reactions the Photos Sparked
As the images spread, readers quickly began sharing their thoughts about Tiger's appearance. Some focused on how drained he looked, while others picked up on something more personal in the photos.
Under a Facebook post, several reactions centered on his expression and the mood of the moment. One person wrote, "Seemingly stressed."

Another said, "That look on his face 😔been there before, hope you can find yourself and come back tiger💪🏼 [sic]."
A third added, "I know where that happened it's a narrow road it's 30 MPH ..Needs serious help. He's Gota look deep in his soul ...that photo of him says it all [sic]."
And in another Facebook post, the conversation turned to how changed Tiger looked in the pictures. Others added, "He looks different," and "Maybe embarrassed."
One person wrote, "He looks just like his dad🙌." Another echoed, "Holy! He looks exactly like his Dad."

But while people online were still dissecting his expression, another account began adding more context to the crash itself.
A Former Employee Speaks Up
News of Tiger's latest crash spread like wildfire on Friday afternoon, as photos emerged of the sluggish 50-year-old standing alongside his stricken Range Rover after the crash.

While much of the public was stunned by the near-death incident, the outlet reported that those familiar with his driving may have been less surprised. A former longtime Tiger employee, who spoke anonymously to the Daily Mail, offered a blunt assessment of what it was like to be in a car with him.
"The guy is a terrible driver... he drives like a bat out of hell very often on a road where lawn services are parked with heavy equipment," the source said.

The former employee continued:
"I've been with him in the car going 55 or 60 mph, driving past cops who don't seem to care."
But let's get into the details of Tiger's situation that morning.
What Happened on Friday?
It was around 2 p.m. ET when Tiger was driving a Land Rover along a two-lane road in Jupiter Island, according to authorities. Sheriff John Budensiek of Martin County later explained that the golfer struck the rear of a utility pressure-washing trailer while attempting to overtake the vehicle.
The impact flipped the SUV and sent it tumbling. Despite the 30 mph speed limit, Tiger must have been traveling way too fast for this to happen. According to Budensiek, the vehicle landed on its side and skidded a significant distance before coming to a halt.
Although the crash was severe, Tiger managed to exit the vehicle without assistance. Deputies said he crawled out and appeared physically unharmed, while the driver of the other vehicle was also not injured, as detailed by The Independent.
But things only got worse once officers began speaking with Tiger.
What Deputies Said They Noticed
Budensiek said DUI investigators were called to the scene after Tiger showed signs of impairment. Officers took into account the injuries and surgeries he has had over the years, but they still carried out more detailed roadside tests.
Alcohol, officials said, did not appear to be the issue. Tiger reportedly blew zero on the breathalyzer, which seemed to rule that out almost immediately.
Still, that did not end the investigation. Authorities claimed Tiger must have been under the influence of some type of medication or drug, and when he was asked to take a urinalysis test, he refused.
Therefore, authorities arrested Tiger and charged him with operating a vehicle under the influence, causing damage to property, and declining to undergo a legal sobriety test.

After the arrest, Tiger was taken to the Martin County Jail. Under Florida law, he was expected to remain there for eight hours.
Early on March 28, authorities confirmed that he had been released on bond after being held for the mandatory period.

The charges, Budensiek said, were not felonies. Even so, the image of one of golf's biggest names spending the night in jail after walking away from a rollover crash was enough to keep the story racing across headlines.
And as that happened, another detail started drawing attention for a different reason.
One Question Was Answered Quickly
With Tiger's personal life now under intense public interest again, there was immediate curiosity about whether anyone had been in the SUV with him. That part, at least, was cleared up fast.
The golfer was alone when the crash happened, police later confirmed. His girlfriend, Vanessa Trump, and her daughters, Kai and Chloe Trump, were not in the car, according to a source who spoke to Page Six.

According to the NY Post, Kai was at the Miami Open. Still, the golfer holds responsibility for his actions, especially because of his history on the road.
His Past Felt Close Again
Tiger has been involved in multiple car accidents before, and some of them changed the course of both his career and his private life.
In February 2021, he survived another rollover crash in California that left him with serious leg injuries and led to emergency surgery. The aftermath sidelined him for 15 months and added to the physical setbacks that have repeatedly interrupted his comeback efforts.

There was also the 2017 arrest in Jupiter, Florida, when Tiger was found asleep at the wheel. He eventually entered a guilty plea for reckless driving once reports revealed that five different prescription medications were in his system during the incident.
And before that came the 2009 crash outside his home, the one that led to a shocking collapse of his private life.

Attention from Washington
The timing of this incident has made it all even more striking. Tiger had finally stepped back into the professional arena on Tuesday, March 24, ending a year-long hiatus by participating in the final night of the indoor "TGL" league.
After that appearance, he had reportedly mentioned his hope of recovering in time to compete in the Masters tournament next month.
As news of the crash spread, it moved beyond sports coverage and into the wider political world. President Donald Trump, who is close to Tiger Woods and obviously his girlfriend's ex-father-in-law, reacted publicly when reporters asked about the incident.
"I feel so badly. He's got some difficulty," President Trump said. "There was an accident. That's all I know. He's a very close friend of mine, he's an amazing person, an amazing man."

In fact, last year, the president addressed the romance between Vanessa and Tiger. Seated in the White House Oval Office, Donald shared what he thinks of their relationship after a reporter asked the politician about it. His comments follow Ivanka Trump's statement about the couple's romance.
Reflecting on the union, Donald didn't shy away from offering his full support. "Well, I love Tiger and I love Vanessa," he began, warmly acknowledging both individuals.
He also took a moment to revisit Vanessa's past with his son, Donald Trump Jr., expressing that their marriage had been deeply impacted by external pressures. "I happen to think the relationship was hurt very badly by the witch hunt that went on," he said, referencing the political scrutiny surrounding his son at the time.

Still, he held no bitterness over how things unfolded. "They broke up, you know, quite a while ago, which was to me, very sad 'cause I think they're both great," he added. Donald also shone a spotlight on the five "incredible" kids Vanessa and Donald Jr. share.
As for Tiger, Donald described him as "a fantastic guy and a fantastic athlete," revealing that the golf icon had personally told him about the budding relationship months ago.

He recalled his reaction, "Tiger, that's good, that's good." His sentiment was simple and unshakable, as he expressed, "Let 'em both be happy. Let 'em both be happy. They're both great."
Donald's remarks come mere days after Tiger himself quietly made headlines with an Instagram post shared on March 24, 2025 — a heartfelt relationship confirmation that brought his romance with Vanessa into the public eye.
In one photo Tiger shared of him and his love, the couple appears deeply at ease, lounging together outdoors on a hammock. Vanessa, clad in a white tank top, rests her head affectionately on Tiger's shoulder while he leans back in a hoodie and baseball cap, both shaded by mirrored sunglasses.

Surrounded by tropical greenery, the moment radiates serenity and closeness — an unspoken confirmation of their bond.
The cover image presents a more polished look at the couple's connection. Standing side by side with their arms wrapped around each other against a sunlit white wall trailing with green ivy, Tiger Woods and Vanessa flash soft smiles at the camera.
Alongside the post, Tiger penned a caption that left no room for speculation. "Love is in the air and life is better with you by my side! We look forward to our journey through life together. At this time we would appreciate privacy for all those close to our hearts," he wrote.
His post garnered a flurry of reactions, with one standing head and shoulders above the rest — Ivanka Trump's. She wasted no time leaving a message for the couple in the post's comment section.

Reacting to the couple going Instagram official, Ivanka penned, "So happy for you both! 🥰🥰." While social media often blurs the line between public and private, Tiger and Vanessa appear determined to navigate their new relationship on their own terms.

And in regard to his latest incident, all that remains now is to wait for what comes next. The crash is over, but the fallout may now cloud what was supposed to be his next step back onto the course.
