Caitlyn Jenner's Son Brody Accused Her of Having 'Better Things to Do' Than Attending His Wedding
On Monday’s episode of The Hills: New Beginnings, Caitlyn Jenner’s son revealed that he’d had a hard time getting over his mother not attending his wedding. During a dinner union, Caitlyn came up as a topic.
Brody Jenner, 35, struggled with healing from the fact that his mother Caitlyn Jenner never bothered to attend his wedding. The reality star, who features on The Hills: New Beginnings, married Kaitlynn Carter.
The truth came out while Brody was having dinner with Kaitlynn, his brother Brandon Jenner, and his mother Linda Thompson, 69. Brody’s mother shared with the group about her relationship with Caitlyn.
She revealed that while they were married the two of them had a “great happy life here in Malibu.” However, all that changed when “Bruce said to me, ‘I want to transition.’”
“Not having my dad at the wedding was a bummer."
She confessed that at that moment she thought her life had been turned upside down. Thompson admitted that she lost her “normal” family and “wonderful husband” whom she thought she’d be married to “forever.”
She mourned the loss of her “marriage and the father of my kids” and was left “devastated.” However, she added that her reaction was only “momentary” as her greatest “sympathy had to go out to Caitlyn.”
Brody also opened up sharing that his mother was his “rock.” He revealed that Thompson had known “for decades” about Caitlyn’s desire to transition.
The public only found out in 2015. Brody, who also works as a Disc Jockey (DJ) shared that his mother only told him when he was 27 years of age.
Speaking about his relationship with Caitlyn, Brody confessed: “Not having my dad at the wedding, it was a bummer. Honestly, it really did hurt.” He added: “I would have loved to have had her there, but she had better things to do, apparently.”
On June 2, last year Brody married Kaitlynn in a small wedding in Sumba, Indonesia. Caitlyn had attended her future daughter-in-law’s bridal shower in April at the Santa Anita Park racetrack in Los Angeles but failed to pitch on the big day.
Instead, a day before the wedding, Caitlyn was seen at an amfAR event in Austria and a source shared that the star had “work commitments that have been set up for months and couldn’t be changed in the end.“ Despite the drama they had been through as a family, Thompson told her sons that she hoped one day they would be able to forgive Caitlyn.
However, she told her children that what Caitlyn went through was no excuse to not be a “father” to their children. Thompson noted that children deserved to receive phone calls from their parents on their birthdays and to be parented.
She explained: “I’m not excusing Caitlyn, I’m just saying it’s forgivable. Everything in life is forgivable, and it’s not even for the other person, it’s for yourself.” She urged her sons to forgive Caitlyn otherwise the negative emotions would “eat away inside you.”
Speaking about Caitlyn’s lack of attendance a few days after his wedding Brody said: “It was a big disappointment.” What made it worse for him was that “she had known about the wedding for a year.”
At the time, Caitlyn’s son confessed that he “wasn’t surprised” and was “used to her doing that sort of thing.”
