Story of How Kevin Costner Found Love Again after Divorcing Cindy Silva

It seems as though Kevin Costner has ultimately found the woman who has made him change his ways after divorcing his first wife Cindy Silva in 1994.

Costner has experienced everything with regards to his love life. Clearly, the actor had been exploring different kinds of women since his divorce with Silva. It's possible that he was searching for his next true love.

"After dating for four years, I woke up and thought, ‘Am I going to lose a beautiful woman who is willing to be with me to my very last breath because I am afraid to say yes to a child?’"

It appeared that he was in luck when he met Christine Baumgartner, a model and handbag designer. Costner met Baumgartner several years before when he was rehearsing golf for a movie.

“When I met Christine, I wasn’t prepared to be in love again," he admitted.

But things started to turn around for him when he dated Baumgartner. It seemed like he had really discovered love once more. Sadly, after not being prepared to focus on children, the couple called it quits in 2002.

Costner then started to apprehend what he had with Baumgartner and understood that he had committed an awful mistake.

“Fear kept me from marrying Christine," he said. "[She] wanted a child, but I was afraid I couldn’t be an effective father. After dating for four years, I woke up and thought, ‘Am I going to lose a beautiful woman who is willing to be with me to my very last breath because I am afraid to say yes to a child?’ That’s all it took.”

Costner discovered that it was Baumgartner after many reflections of what he truly needed in life.

In 2004, the couple tied the knot in a private ceremony on Costner’s estate in Aspen, Colorado. The newlyweds appeared to be totally enamored. They now share three children — Cayden, Hayes, and Grace.

The pleased dad couldn't be more joyful. He described his kids as:

“Really good children […] and I see them making steps every day, and the one thing I pray for in life is not success but being able to raise my children and that nothing happens to me in the next 20 years.”

Costner also had three children with Silva — Anne "Annie" Clayton, Lily McCall, and Joseph "Joe" Tedrick — and a child named Liam Timothy Costner with Bridget Rooney, with whom he had a brief relationship following his divorce.
