Melania Trump Announces Start of Christmas Preparations at the White House
On Wednesday, First Lady Melania Trump took to social media to reveal that she had already started planning the Christmas decorations for the White House.
First Lady Melania Trump, 49, revealed that “Christmas planning has begun in the East Wing at the White House.” She made the announcement by posting four images on social media.
WHAT MELANIA WORE FOR THE CHRISTMAS PLANNING
The photos showed the first lady comparing fabric color swatches and discussing ideas with a man who appeared to be involved in the planning. For this task, Trump chose to wear a beautiful white dress.

The dress had short-sleeves and was knee-high. She completed her simple look by adding nude patent leather 4.7-inch stiletto heels.
The shoes featured a pointed toe and the brand’s signature red sole. The heel is named the So Kate and has a near-vertical heel with a retail cost of $695.
TRUMP CRITICIZED FOR 2018'S CHRISTMAS THEME
Trump added that she was “looking forward to sharing our final vision for this unique tradition in the coming months.” Last year, the first also started planning Christmas at the White House in July.
However, her design choice failed to impress a number of critics who thought it was too much. The first lady decorated the White House’s East Wing Colonnade with bright red cranberry-filled Christmas trees.
Social media users mocked her by calling the theme a “Christmas from Hell” and full of “red Christmas trees of death.” Others took to social media creating memes out of the trees.
FIRST LADY JUDGED AGAIN FOR 2017 DÉCOR
They added the white bonnets on the top of the trees and joked that they resembled the handmaids from “The Handmaid’s Tale.” For her 2017 Christmas decorations, Trump also received some criticism.
At the time, the first lady chose to line the White House’s grand foyer with Christmas trees covered in sparkling white lights. It seemed she was going for a winter wonderland theme.
Responding to the theme at the time, Vogue Magazine said the decorations had “distinctly desolate, post-apocalyptic ice chamber vibes.” The magazine further questioned if the décor was “a manifestation of the first lady’s own ‘Get Out’-style entrapment in Donald Trump’s administration.”
Get Out is a 2017 horror movie by Jordan Peele centered on an interracial couple where the black boyfriend visits his white girlfriend's home for the first time to meet her parents. Initially thinking the family is overly accommodating, he later founds out that they're actually racist and hides a number of shocking secrets.
MELANIA PROMOTING HER CAMPAIGN VIA 2018 XMAS THEME
What Vogue also noticed about 2018’s Christmas decorations was that the first lady chose to include a lot of Be Best merchandise. A video of the décor revealed Be Best ornaments and a wreath made of the brand’s pencils to promote her anti-bullying campaign.
