Angela Bassett Celebrates 61st Birthday with Birthday Broccoli Instead of Cake
Angela Bassett celebrated her 61st birthday not with a cake, but with birthday broccoli. The happy actress didn't seem to mind though, as she happily posed with her makeshift cake.
While birthdays are often seen as "cheat days" wherein the birthday celebrant can eat whatever he or she wants, Angela opted to stick to her diet.
According to her, she's more than happy with her birthday broccoli and it's got her feeling all the festive vibes.
“Annie Mae might be wating cake, but not me! But hey! I’m still getting my birthday party on! Come on through Birthday Broccoli!”
A Healthy Diet
Her diet can be credited as one of the reasons for her fit shape at 61-years-old, as she chooses to eat only veggies, good fat, and carbs.
“Monday, Tuesday, I may eat carbs, fruit; Tuesday, Wednesday, protein, veggies—veggies every day—no fats those four days, and then the last three days, I flood it with fat. Good fat, though: maybe coconut oil, salmon, almonds, almond butter, you know, olive oil, that sort of thing.”
An Eventful Year
It's been quite an eventful year for Angela, as aside from having numerous projects, she was awarded an honorary doctorate from Morehouse College in Atlanta.
Along with the other graduates, she was honored for her leadership, excellence, and service, that definitely "set the bar high" for Hollywood women.
A Grateful Heart
Angela revealed that her "heart is full" after receiving her doctorate, saying she was blessed and highly favored.
She adds that she is proud of her fellow Morehouse College graduates, who are mostly black, as Morehouse College is a school dominated by black excellence.
Now that she's turned a year older, Bassett can look forward to a whole lot more experiences, especially since she continues to dominate Hollywood.
At this rate, there is nothing more we can wish her but continued blessings and a long life of happiness and love. Happy Birthday, Angela!
