Union recently made headlines for advocating for better treatment for Hollywood mothers, along with fellow actress, Eva Longoria. She told Harper’s Bazaar:
“When I came back from maternity leave, Jess [Jessica Alba] made sure my trailer had everything that hers had so Kaav could come right to set. No ones had to make that crazy, crazy sacrifice of going back to work and just, like, leaving your kid.”
Just as hands-on Union was, her husband too took paternity leave from his NBA career during a season with Miami Heat to take care and dedicate his time to their then-newborn child.
Union shared the struggles she had as a new mother as she related with a mom of an autistic and blind contestant who had an outstanding audition for “America’s Got Talent.” The judge awarded Kodi Lee with the Golden Buzzer after watching his performance.
She later shared her thoughts on Lee and how he made “people believe in something they didn’t even know was possible.” Union also credited Lee’s mother and family for supporting him through his rising career.
