Missy Elliott Shows How 'Iconology' EP Cover Was Made after MTV VMA Video Vanguard Award Win
Missy Elliott posted a glimpse of her “Iconology” cover shoot on Instagram, where her hair spelled out her name, leaving her fans shocked at the raw outtakes.
Multi-talented artist, Missy Elliott, yet again showed why she deserves all her titles after doing a pretty tricky photo shoot for the latest “Iconology” cover. The Grammy Award-winning rapper shared a sneak peek of what is to come on her social media on Thursday.
The video showed Elliott spelling out her name using her hair while posing like a real star. She took the opportunity to thank her photographer Derek Blanks, “glam squad,” and the rest of her team who made the shoot turn out perfectly.
“Big up my photographer @mrdblanks who always come through for me & his work dope he gets me!!!” she wrote. “Big up my glam squad @kellonderyck who had me wearing & holding this heavy hairpiece on my head for a hour.”
It wasn’t until some fans read the caption that they came to know the written hair name wasn’t photoshopped. One comment read:
“What! That hair wasn’t photoshopped!!!!!!! Wow! The TALENT!”
“Heavvvvvyyyyyy is the head that wears the [crown emoji]” another wrote.
It is without question that Elliott is most deserving to be on the “Iconology” cover; after all, she is one of the most influential icons of this generation. Among her many achievements are six solo hip-hop albums that hit the high charts, 72 awards, and 300 nominations in the music industry.
To add to her long list of successes, the “Get Ur Freak On” singer recently bagged the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the MTV VMAs, making history being the first female rapper to win the title.
Elliott’s win was celebrated by “The King of Pop’s” sister herself, Janet Jackson, in a sweet video message posted on Instagram for her close friend. Among the things that were said, Jackson highlighted good of a friend the rapper is to her.
