Kevin Hart’s car reportedly lacked safety features that could have prevented or minimized injuries he sustained in a horrific accident earlier this month.

In a report by TMZ, car experts told the outlet that the 1970 Plymouth Barracuda that Hart and two friends were riding in was basically a death trap.

According to the experts, Hart’s vehicle reportedly lacked a five-point harness and a roll cage, something that is "highly unusual" for cars with 720 horsepower, such as the comedian’s.

TMZ reached out to the company that customized Hart’s Barracuda – which the actor gifted himself for his 40th birthday in July – but there was no response.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO KEVIN HART'S CAR?

In another update by the outlet on Hart’s September 1 California crash, insiders revealed that the California Highway Patrol would disassemble the "Night School" star's car as part of an investigation into the accident.

The 3-week process will reportedly involve officials determining the cause of the crash as well as deciding if the result will birth new car safety laws.

According to law enforcement sources speaking with TMZ, the investigation may also result in the CHP recommending that the state legislature require car customizing companies to install safety harnesses even if it deviates from the original vehicle design.

THE HORROR CRASH

Hart was in his vintage Barracuda with friends, Jared Black, and Black’s fiancée Rebecca Broxterman when the vehicle crashed through a fence on Malibu’s Mulholland Highway. Black, who was driving, and Hart, reportedly suffered major back injuries while Broxterman only had minor complaints.

INJURIES AND TREATMENT

Hart sustained three spinal fractures and had to undergo surgery last week but will need rehab and extensive physical therapy to make a full recovery.

According to The Grio, The NY Daily News reported that Hart has commenced therapy and is already walking slowly to exercise his limbs and build up strength despite being in excruciating pain.

INDUSTRY SUPPORT

Hart’s Hollywood colleagues have rallied around him in the time since the accident and his “Jumanji” and “Central Intelligence” co-star Dwayne Johnson, recently gave an update on the actor's health.

Johnson, who recently got married, cut short his honeymoon to fill in for Hart who had been booked as Kelly Clarkson’s first-ever guest on her eponymous talk show that premiered on Monday.

A POSITIVE UPDATE

“Everything is good, I spoke with Kevin,” Johnson said via Deadline and BBC. “I connected with him today.”

Johnson added:

"I love the guy, he's one of my best friends. …And honestly, I mean, thank God, it could have been a lot worse. So, he's a lucky man, and he knows it, too. I wish him the best and a speedy recovery and I'm going to see him soon."

Hart’s team is yet to release a statement concerning the horrific accident but his wife, Eniko, did say last week that the “Think Like A Man” star is doing “great” and will “be just fine.”
