'Parkers' Star Mo'Nique in Financial Trouble, Accused of Owing up to $620k in Back Taxes: Report
Mo'Nique is hit with another tax lien following a string of debts stemming back to 2013. The actress reportedly owes a total of $620k including her latest back taxes.
Thousands of dollars in tax lien is hanging over Mo’Nique’s head according to a recent report by The Blast. The publication also reveals her back taxes have now amounted to $620k.

The actress’ properties and assets are in line according to the report which disclosed a document issued by the Georgia Department of Revenue that details Mo’Nique’s debt.
In the document, her original tax debt was valued at $31,445.71. But due to interest, penalties and a collection fee, it totaled to $60,365.75. That amount was reportedly due during the period of 2015 to 2016.
Mo’Nique famously revealed that she was blackballed from the industry in 2010 around the time she won an Oscar for her supporting role in the film, “Precious.”

Mo’nique’s latest financial woe is in addition to her previous debts. In 2016, she was accused of being remiss in her taxes between 2013 and 2014 and accumulated a debt of $389,904.98.
The following year, she and her husband, Sidney Hicks were again hit with a tax lien covering a 2015 unpaid bill of $170,720.74.

Adding all of Mo’nique’s obligations up to the present, her outstanding debt is $620,991.47.
Mo’Nique famously revealed that she was blackballed from the industry in 2010 around the time she won an Oscar for her supporting role in the film, “Precious.” She has since burned bridges with Lee Daniels, Tyler Perry, and Oprah Winfrey, all of whom she accused of shutting her out of the industry and spreading the word that she was difficult to work with.

The outspoken star admitted struggling to get a job after that which, in hindsight, may have caused her finances to dwindle. She also complained of being underpaid as a Black female actress.
Earlier this year, she argued with Steve Harvey about the importance of fighting for her rights in the industry but the talk show host urged her to accept that she was fighting a “money game.” The explosive interview saw the actress telling Harvey that she wasn’t going to scarify her integrity because of it.
Mo’Nique has yet to comment on her latest tax issue though she’s never one to comment about her financial debts in the past
