Woman Who Has to Choose between Her Biological Child & Foster Son Sparks Heated Debate
A couple faced a serious dilemma after finding out that they were pregnant with their first baby at age 40. However, they already have a foster son, but can’t financially support both.
A
sought help from Reddit users after she faced a dilemma that can affect the lives of her two kids -- an unborn child and a nine-year-old foster boy.
She disclosed that she and her husband have been trying to get pregnant with the help of a few treatments, which did not take effect until later.
As they currently have a foster boy with them, whom they planned to adopt, the couple found out of the wife’s 12-week-pregnancy at over 40-years-old. She wrote:
“With our work and our finances, the only way we can raise our foster son is if we terminate this pregnancy. We can’t financially have both children.”

The pregnant woman couldn’t fathom the thought of having to abort her only chance at having a biological child -- one she has hoped and prayed for, for years.
The only other option they have it to discontinue the process of adoption, although the nine-year-old already knows of the preparations. As for their finances, she said:
“We currently live in a 2 bedroom condo. We are required to give foster son his own room, which is not possible with a baby bu social services standards. Us moving into the living room doesn’t pass either.”

The woman’s post sparked debate on the internet, with most pointing out that being a parent is far more than having a biological child.
Moreover, raising a child for two years is longer than it seems to be; thus, abandoning the child will have severe consequences for the little boy.
Another Reddit user was caught in a similar situation but instead did not want to be associated with the biological son he just found out was his.

The man is currently married with kids, and his wife left their home with the children after learning of the biological son named Traycon. He said:
“Would I be the [expletive] I just tell Traycon he made it 24 years without me, he will be just fine without me for the rest of his life.”

In a similar setting, a man faced a dilemma where he had to choose between his wife or his dogs as she didn’t want the dogs to live with them anymore.
The husband, who is a dog trainer, considered buying a house down the street so he can keep his dogs, yet still be there for his wife and kids.
While some Reddit users disagreed with his option, given that family should always be the priority, others understood that leaving an old dog in the shelter would mean no one would adopt him.
