With the good news of a “Punky Brewster” reboot, original cast member, Cherie Johnson is beyond excited. Not only will she get to reprise her role opposite Soleil Moon Frye aka Punky, but she’s a mother now with 43 years of experience tucked in her belt to infuse in her role.

Being a mother altered Cherie’s direction in life. In recent years, she took a break from acting and channeled her energy into becoming an author of children's books.

In her blog site, “Advice for My Sisters,” Cherie who played Punky’s best friend, Cherie Johnson (yes, her real name) expressed her joy over the announcement of a reboot.

“Never in a million years did I imagine me and this hottie will be working again!” the ageless star wrote along with a photo of her and Soleil reuniting.

Cherie is a mother to daughter, Zoe who’s been keeping her company while traveling for work. Zoe is five years old, just a year younger than Cherie was when she first graced the screens on “Punky Brewster” yet she’s quite the expert traveler according to her mother.

The actress delights in being able to spend quality time with Zoe while they travel and is amazed at how much the little girl loves it. “I have been blessed with a child who loves to travel,” she shared in another article on her blog site.

With their frequent travels, Cherie says Zoe is a “little road dog” who’s used to getting up extra early to catch flights and sleeps during flights to gain energy. She’s also amazed by her little girl’s confidence in wanting to do everything herself when traveling.

“She loves pulling out her own ID, (Even though it’s not needed yet, she feels like she’s a big girl.) holding her own boarding pass and pulling her roller bag all by herself was the new thing on our latest trip,” Cherie recounts.

She adds that Zoe would weigh her bag to make sure it wasn’t overweight and pull out her iPad herself for security checks.

“I know these may sound like little things but she’s 5 years old already knowing how to basically get around an airport by herself,” she proudly writes.

Zoe is Cherie’s second child but the first she physically gave birth to. She has an older son who’s an adult now. Zoe was a wish come true after wanting a girl for 17 years prior to her birth.

Being a mother altered Cherie’s direction in life. In recent years, she took a break from acting and channeled her energy into becoming an author of children's books. She’s written five novels to date and runs a podcast dedicated to mothers called “Cherie’s World.”

We are so excited to see Cherie on our TV screens again when “Punky Brewster” returns sometime in 2020. Cherie says she's "praying for at least five seasons" and we’re praying for even more.
