RECALLING THE HORRENDOUS NIGHT
Theron described her family as unstable for most parts, which was mostly rooted in her father’s being an alcoholic. She recalled:
“My father was so drunk that he shouldn’t have been able to walk when he came into the house with a gun. My mom and I were in my bedroom leaning against the door because he was trying to push through.”

While trying to get inside and shouting that he was going to shoot them both, her father fired at the door three times.
Luckily, none of the bullets hurt them. Because of their situation, Theron’s mother shot back at her father in self-defense.

Theron’s mother soon had to be put under questioning from the murder, and while she went through the process, she advised her daughter to leave the country and chase after her dreams.
