Jennifer Lopez Has Faced Plenty of Struggles in Life, Including Being Homeless to Getting Divorced Thrice
Before becoming the bright star that she is now, Jennifer Lopez had a tough childhood in the Bronx that saw her moving out of their house as a teenager and dealing with her parents’ separation.
Lopez recalled leaving their house to pursue her dream of being a dancer, sleeping on the sofa in the dance studio because her mother was against her dropping school in favor of being a full-time dancer.
“It was kind of like you do this or you leave. You know I was 18 years old and nowhere to go,” she said in an interview shown on Extra TV’s YouTube channel.

MOTHER-DAUGHTER FALLING OUT
The “On the Floor” singer had studied at the Ballet Hispanico and at the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club. Her mother disapproved of her becoming a full-time dancer instead of going to college, as reported by W Magazine.
They had a falling out, and Lopez was forced to sleep on the sofa in the dance studio. It turned out to be a good decision as she started getting opportunities.
She landed a job dancing in Europe and when she returned she was booked in the popular series, “Living Color.” She moved to Los Angeles as a Fly Girl dancer on the sketch comedy show.
LEADING BY EXAMPLE
It all happened in a year, said Lopez, who also went on to become a singer, an actress, a fashion designer and businesswoman.
The “Live it Up” songstress hopes to inspire her twins Max and Emme through her story and by exemplifying a strong work ethic, as reported by CNN. She shares them with ex-husband Marc Anthony.
Lopez has shared photos on social media of herself bonding with her two children and Rodriguez’s two daughters.
THRIVING NEW ROMANCE
Lopez is regarded as one of the most influential Latin performers in the United States with 80 million records in estimated global sales. Forbes also named her the most powerful celebrity in the world in 2012.
Moving on from her three failed marriages, Lopez is now engaged to star athlete Alex Rodriguez, who like her also has two children from a previous relationship.
The athlete’s ex-wife filed for divorce in 2008 after reports surfaced of Rodriguez having extramarital affairs. They finalized the divorce in September 2008.

She posted a photo of herself holding her son, Max, which had fans gushing at how cute he was and the special bond that mother and son share.
Lopez and Rodriguez are already looking to their future together, even purchasing a $15 million-apartment in Manhattan’s 432 Park Avenue, the world’s tallest residential tower.
