According to Today, the 49-year-old shared the word of advice about the importance of face masks and social distancing in a tweet that read:
"As the weekend approaches I ask that everyone take social distancing & wearing a mask/face covering seriously. #COVID19 is a virus that can spread to anyone - we can stop this together."
Since she shared the tweet on April 3, it has caused numerous engagements that resulted in over 12,000 retweets and over 76,000 likes.
Melania, via her Twitter account, released a PSA that reassured people that the international interruption to day-to-day living would not be the new normal.
Today noted that Melania's tweet came soon after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued the new guidance as a precaution to take in addition to keeping at least 6-feet of social distance between people who don't live together.
The center stated on its website that it was "critical to emphasize that maintaining 6-feet social distancing remains important to slowing the spread of the virus."
