David Crosby, Biological Father of Melissa Etheridge’s Late Son, Responds after His Tragic Death
David Crosby has spoken out after Melissa Etheridge and Julie Cypher's son, Beckett Cypher, passed on.
David Crosby was the sperm donor and biological father of Melissa Etheridge and Julie Cypher's son, Beckett Cypher, so when the 21-year-old passed away, the singer felt the pain.

Now, ET Online has reported that soon after the news of Beckett's death broke, David had to respond to a tweet that hinted that besides being a donor, he didn't play any part in Beckett's life. David simply replied "not true" to the now-deleted tweet that read:
"David was their donor. They did not have a son 'with' him. He was Melissa and Julie's child. They raised him. Like most donors, he played no other part."
Although it took them a while, Melissa and Julie made it public that David was the biological father of their two children, Bailey Jean Cypher and Beckett.
Melissa is also the mother to two other children, Miller Steven and Johnnie Rose, whom she shares with her ex-wife, Tammy Lynn Michaels.
During a 2000 interview with Rolling Stone, Melissa revealed that both her family and her then-partner's families were okay with the situation. While laughing, Julie told the publication:
"They're grandkids. They don't care how they get 'em — they just want 'em."
The duo decided to speak exclusively to Rolling Stone about their story when they ran into editor and publisher Jann S. Wenner during VH1's "Concert of the Century" in October 1999 in Washington, D.C.
As regards the sad passing of her son, Today shared that Melissa took to Twitter to release a statement where she revealed that Beckett died of causes related to opioid addiction.
The 58-year-old singer-songwriter stated that her late son had struggled with the addiction until his death. While stating that her "heart is broken," Melissa made it known that Beckett would be missed by friends and family that loved him.
She also added that the people he left behind continue to have regrets as they wonder what else they could have done to save him.
Beckett's death was initially reported in a tweet from her team when they announced that the Wednesday leg of her frequent at-home concert was canceled.
