Tarique, who came in from New York, was apprehended after he shared social media content that showed him outside his hotel room after he arrived in O'ahu, last Monday.

Kentucky, authorities arrested 37-year-old Kendra Burnett after she violated a self-quarantine order for the third time following her positive diagnosis for the virus.

The 23-year-old reportedly left his hotel room on the same day of his arrival and even "travelled many places using public transportation."

Authorities were alerted to his activities by the people who saw posts of him having fun on the beach with a surfboard and sunbathing. Tarique was subsequently arrested and booked on Friday, May 15, with his bail set at $4,000.

CBS News reported that the Hawaii Attorney General Clare Connor made his gratitude known to the helpful citizens that spotted and reported visitor's "flagrant violations of our emergency rules on various social media sites."

Although Hawaii has only reported 638 novel coronavirus cases and 17 deaths, it has made it mandatory for travellers and tourists to go into self-quarantine for 14 days, without leaving their residence or hotel room(s).

CNN added that tourists are also expected to fill out a document that showed their agreement that violating the quarantine rule is a criminal offence punishable by a $5,000 fine and up to a year in prison.

As it turned out, Tarique wasn't the first visitor to get arrested for overlooking the state's quarantine orders.

9 News divulged that a Colorado woman, Tara Trunfio, was arrested after Maui police issued an "all-points bulletin" (APB) to find the 23-year-old following her refusal to comply with the quarantine rules after she left the airport.

In a similar story in the US, Associated Press reported that Florida deputies arrested a man, Richard McGuire, who was "enjoying" his quarantine on a closed Disney World island.

Richard, who told authorities that the island felt like a "tropical paradise," said that he had no idea that the area was restricted.

Nearly a thousand kilometres away in Louisville, Kentucky, authorities arrested 37-year-old Kendra Burnett after she violated a self-quarantine order for the third time following her positive diagnosis for the novel coronavirus.
