In his absence, his wife, Amanda Kloots, took to Instagram to share a sweet post that came with images from their time at the hospital last June.

After Nick woke up from his month-long medically induced coma in May, People Magazine stated that Amanda noted that it was "kind of a waiting game at the moment."

Just before the birthday post, People Magazine reported that the fitness instructor told her Instagram followers that her husband "had a little bit of a rocky night last night" and "spiked a fever" that led to a medical intervention that required the use of medication.

The mother of one added that Nick's doctors would most likely go through "another round of stem cells" treatment to help repair the damage his lungs suffered due to COVID-19.

"I miss holding your hand. I miss your gnocchi dinners. I miss watching tv with you at night and always falling asleep on your lap in five minutes."

She added that she missed laughing with Nick and seeing him with their son. Amanda finished the post by pointing out that she cannot wait for him to get home.
