Jay Ellis of 'Insecure' Feels Guilty for Bringing Biracial Daughter into This World Sometimes
Jay Ellis of "Insecure" admits he sometimes feels guilty for bringing a biracial daughter into the world given the circumstances surrounding racial injustice and police brutality in America.
While guesting on "The Talk," Jay Ellis was asked how he feels about the protests and demonstrations happening in America. At first, he acknowledged that this particular movement is different from the other protests that he joined because of the number of people who came together.
On top of that, he shared that while many violent protests are being shown on television, the ones he went to were actually quite peaceful. He and his fiance Nina Senicar took to the streets to fight against racial injustice and police brutality along with thousands of others in Hollywood.
HIS HONEST FEELINGS
During the interview, he was candid and honest about how he feels, especially as a father of an interracial daughter. While he thought it would be raising a child while working long hours that would be difficult, having to raise her in a world where racial injustice is prevalent is worse.
"I think there are moments when I look at her and I feel guilty that I brought her into this world and where we're at right now."
Despite this, he also feels happy and hopeful for the world that his daughter will live in when she is older. Through it all, he's been trying to see the silver lining in everything going on especially with people from all walks of life marching for the same thing.
WHAT SPARKED IT ALL
The protests and demonstrations happening around America were sparked by the death of George Floyd, a Minneapolis local who was killed while out on a grocery run. Floyd was accused of writing a bad check by one of the clerks, who decided to call the police on him.
Despite his pleas for help and letting them know that he couldn't breathe, he was held in the same position for minutes until he lost consciousness.
DEMANDING FOR JUSTICE
He was arrested on the scene and tackled to the ground, with one officer having his knee to Floyd's neck. Despite his pleas for help and letting them know that he couldn't breathe, he was held in the same position for minutes until he lost consciousness.

His death sparked outrage around the world, and for more than two weeks now, people have taken to the streets to demand government reforms against police brutality, and to seek justice for George Floyd's death, and many others who were subject to racial injustice under the hands of police officers.
