THE UNINTENDED WEIGHT LOSS
In a post to social media, the woman asked for opinions from netizens after she went to visit her aunt and 12-year-old cousin for the first time in months. The novel coronavirus pandemic had kept them physically apart, so they raved about the 15 lbs she had lost during this time.
What she didn't say is that the weight loss came due to being dumped by her boyfriend and losing her job on top of that as well. With not enough money to go around, she didn't have money for food, so the pounds had melted away quickly.

THE UNINTENDED LIE
However, the sticky part of the situation came in when her young cousin asked how she dropped the weight. Not wanting to give her cousin the wrong idea on how to go about dieting, she lied and said that she ate vegetables and fruit while dedicating her free time to exercise.
"I didn't want to tell her that I starved myself because what if she does the same?" the woman wrote.

WHY THE LIE BECAME A PROBLEM
Feeling bad about the lie, she told the aunt how she unintentionally dropped the pounds in private and asked not to be reminded of the hardships she so recently faced. The aunt agreed but then got angry because of the "bad advice" and "unrealistic expectations," she gave her cousin. Confused at the aunt's reaction, the woman added:
"I find this ridiculous because vegetables and exercise are good habits. It’s not like I told her to take up smoking."

SOCIAL MEDIA USERS RESPOND
Netizens weighed in and commended the woman on not telling her cousin the real reason she lost the pounds, especially since the aunt spent the whole day complimenting the transformation. Others felt equally confused about the aunt's opinion that exercise and eating vegetables is bad advice.
