Woman Bans Her Mother-In-Law from Seeing Her Daughter

When it comes to mothers-in-law, things can sometimes get complicated and downright dramatic. In this story, another family member played a central role in why one woman is cutting off her mother-in-law.

One woman on Reddit is wondering whether she's in the wrong or her monster-in-law doesn't have a leg to stand on. She shared a fairly complex story online asking for strangers' feedback.

The woman and her husband are currently the legal guardians of the husband's sister, who has fetal alcohol syndrome and some other disorders.

WOMAN FACES ONE ISSUE WITH SIL

While the sister-in-law (SIL) can hold down a job and participate in activities within their company, she can't live independently. Luckily, the woman is happy to have her — as opposed to the mother.

One issue the couple is facing is the SIL's massive chest size, which leads to unwanted catcalling on the streets. As a disabled person, the woman is worried that someone might take advantage of her SIL.

Furthermore, the SIL is unable to find a good bra, wear certain clothing, or go swimming. Thus, the woman and her husband came up with a plan to do breast reduction surgery for the SIL.

MOTHER-IN-LAW CHANGES SISTER-IN-LAW'S MIND

They did their best in explaining the matter to the SIL. Yet after a Zoom call with the mother, things took a turn. The mother, whom the woman says shows no interest in her daughter, does not want the surgery to happen.

She told the SIL, "They want to chop off your boobies and make you a man." Since then, the SIL has changed her mind regarding the surgery nearly altogether. They're working on bringing her back around.

The woman explained, "Since MIL has no legal right to talk to SIL, Husband and I have decided to cut all contact with MIL until at least after the surgery/recovery."

THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE TAKE THE WOMAN'S SIDE

Within the wider family, the mother has turned her family against the woman, while the woman's family is still on her side. She asked Redditors if she and her husband are in the wrong.

Within the comments, the woman further explained the change in cup sizes. Some people were surprised by the big difference and said she was wrong for it despite her reasoning.

Others pointed to the mother-in-law's unwarranted opinion and said she caused her daughter's mental health issues, so she clearly doesn't have her daughter's best interest at heart.

THE HUSBAND GIVES HIS INPUT

In an update, the husband added his voice to the original post and insulted his mother, which might be saying something about her character. In the end, he just wants to have a safe procedure and never have to think of his sister's breasts again.

In another story, one man explained how he ended up threatening to kick his own mother out of his home. It was all because of the way she felt about his cats.

The man said that their mom requested shelter because she couldn't pay her rent and had no other living option. Like a good son, the man took his mom in, fully aware of her personality shortcomings.

MAN'S MOTHER WANTS HIM TO SELL HIS CATS

The first couple of weeks went by fine. Then, things took a turn. The man explained that his mom sat him down after dinner and revealed how irritating his two cats were to her.

Some issues included the furry creatures' desire for attention, the smell of their food, late-night meowing, and the noise their collar bells make. With that out of the way, the mother asked her son if she could sell his cats.

The man responded with a hard no. In response, the mother said the cats were the reason his son is single. The man said he would remove the bells, but there was no chance he'd sell off his cats.

In response, the mother accused him of being inconsiderate. With that, the son asked her, "Why don't you just move out?" The two then stopped talking. The internet's verdict was that the man is not the jerk.
