As the world celebrates fathers, Micheal Douglas remembers his late dad Kirk Douglas in a touching Instagram post writing that he missed him.
The photo showed the father and son together before the legendary actor passed away. In the picture, Douglas reminded fans to cherish their father while they still had the chance.
Kirk passed away earlier this year, and his son confirmed the news that the veteran actor had died at 103-years-old, in a statement shared on his social media.
In it, he spoke about his years as a humanitarian as well as his work as an actor in the golden age of movies. He added that his father had set a standard for them all to aspire to. He wrote,
"To me and my brothers Joel and Peter he was simply Dad, to Catherine, a wonderful father-in-law, to his grandchildren and great grandchild their loving grandfather, and to his wife Anne, a wonderful husband."
Michael's wife, actress Catherine Zeta-Jones also paid tribute to her father-in-law, calling him the love of her life. She had always been close to him, often sharing photos of them.
Other stars also sent their condolences, including Mark Hamill, who called him a brilliant actor with an "unforgettable, blazing charisma." Mitzi Gaynor also posted, thanking Kirk for sharing his talent with the world.
He said that there had never been anyone like Kirk Douglas.
During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Micheal revealed that his father used to tease him and flirt with his wife, asking to speak to Zeta-Jones instead of his son.
He said that there had never been anyone like Kirk Douglas, adding that he thought his father was very happy. The "Spartacus" actor said,
"There wasn't anyone like him. There's another generation, that was the great generation, post World War II....and Dad was one of a kind."

During his lifetime, Kirk received a SAG Lifetime Achievement Award, a Golden Globe as well as the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
He leaves behind his wife Anne Budens,100, sons Michael, Joel and Peter, and his grandchildren Cameron, Carys Douglas, Dylan Michael Douglas, Ryan Douglas, Tyler Douglas, Kelsey and Jason.
In 2018 after Michael was honored with a Hollywood star, he recognized his father, who was in attendance. During his speech, he teared up when thanking him for his inspiration.
Zeta-Jones and her late father-in-law even presented the Golden Globes for best screenplay, and the audience also gave Kirk a standing ovation.
