Man Not Compromising on His Wife's Grandmother Living with Them

A debate about whether one man's grandmother-in-law should be placed in a care home or if his wife should take her in has emerged online recently. The man refuses to compromise on his stance.

On Saturday, a Reddit user took to a popular forum to share an ongoing situation with his wife, whose grandmother needs elderly care. The older woman currently has a professional carer minding her.

As for the man, he and his wife live near the beach in a two-bedroom home. They're in the process of looking at a three-bedroom house in the area to move to. The man explained his dilemma.

The wife's grandmother appears to have a condition that causes her to suffer from short-term memory loss, be overly emotional, and show bizarre behavior, including hiding soiled underwear.

Sometimes, she'll end up in her garden where someone will find her confused and out of sorts. Things have gotten so bad that the care company is suggesting she be moved to a care home.

The man's wife is against the idea and insists that the older woman should move in with her and her husband. The couple is expecting a child, however, which is just one reason the man is opposed.

"I don't think I'm prepared to not only have a newborn but also someone who requires a lot of care," explains the poster. He noted that his wife would be the primary caretaker of both the newborn and the grandmother as she works from home.

The wife attempted to meet him halfway by agreeing to hire a carer for twice-daily visits. But the man won't compromise because he doesn't want to deal with certain habits the older lady has picked up.

Because of the situation, the man's wife is ignoring him while his mother is also holding some contempt for his decision. He asked the internet their opinion on the matter.

In consideration of everyone's feelings, the verdict came out that no one was ultimately in the wrong. The majority of Reddit users understand that the woman's heart is in the right place, while the man is not being unreasonable.

WOMAN DENIES FIANCE PAYING FOR DAUGHTER'S TUITION

In another instance, a woman refused to compromise on allowing her fiancé to help pay for his biological daughter's college tuition. The woman explained that her fiancé, whom she's been with for nine years, had a child at 16 years old.

He and the mother put the baby girl up for adoption. The girl was adopted, and her blood father remained out of her life for 16 years. One day, the woman says the 17-year-old showed up at their home.

The girl and her dad got to know each other, but before long, her adoptive parents asked for money. The woman and her fiancé have decided to be a child-free couple, and the man has no parental rights.
