On July 12, the day Donda would have turned 71 years old, the rapper shared a heartfelt tribute to her with a video of a song he wrote to celebrate her life. Captioning his sweet post, Kanye wrote:

"In loving memory of my incredible mother on her birthday ? , My mom reciting KRS1 lyrics. This song is called DONDA."

The 3-minute long video included a recording of the late Donda's voice, reciting an inspiring verse from the Bronx rapper KRS1's song, "Sound of da Police," over a gospel choir singing in the background.

Kanye followed Donda's recital verse with his own rumination and opinions of the social issue of racism and the plethora of fake leaders that plagued the society.

The rapper's words showed how much he missed Donda, with lyrics that expressed how he wanted her to tuck him in amid the many mistakes he had made and the people who rubbed the mistakes in.

He admitted to being stubborn, adding that he was doing all he could to end racism once and for all. In no time, Kanye's tribute to his mom had already amassed millions of views with comments joining him in honoring Donda, praising him for being such a great son.

Earlier in the day, Kanye's wife, fashion mogul and reality star, Kim Kardashian also shared a sweet post in honor of her late mother-in-law.

The "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" star tweeted a vintage video of Donda and Kanye having a touching mother and son moment while singing and dancing to his 2005 musical tribute to Donda, "Hey Mama."

In 2005, the rapper revealed that he wrote "Hey Mama" with Donda in mind and claimed that it was one of his favorite songs. On Mother's Day in 2019, he performed a rendition of the song as an opening for his Sunday Service.

Donda was a former college professor who passed away at the age of 58, allegedly due to heart disease caused by several post-operative factors after undergoing plastic surgery.

Donda was a special woman who was profoundly invested in her son's life and career. The late West would be immensely proud of her son and how much he has achieved.
