See Vanessa Bryant's Own Entry to a Black and White Instagram Photo Challenge
Six months after the horrific accident that claimed the lives of her husband and her 13-year-old daughter, Vanessa Bryant is still staying out of the public eye, but she took part in an Instagram challenge.
A new challenge is going viral on Instagram as women tag each other in the Women Supporting Women Challenge. This new challenge is all about women empowering each other in a universal sisterhood by posting black and white portraits of themselves on Instagram.
Among the dozens of celebrities accepting the challenge is Vanessa Bryant, the widow of NBA legend Kobe Bryant who passed away in January 2020 along with their daughter Gianna,13, and 7 others in a horrific chopper accident on the hills of Calabassas. If anyone knows what it's like to be a woman challenged by fate, it's Bryant.
In the difficult times that so many are facing in the world today, the challenge is showing women everywhere that they are not alone
WOMEN SUPPORTING WOMEN
Bryant shared a stunning black and white portrait of herself dressed in white and looking off into the distance. Her long hair is upswept and held back by a white band covered in pearls.
Bryant captioned the post, thanking LL Cool J's wife Simone Smith for nominating her for the inspiring challenge. She captioned her snap:
"Challenge accepted @sislovespurple Thank you for nominating me. Let's love each other."
PASSING ON THE CHALLENGE
Bryant didn't just accept, she passed on the challenge to new mom singer Ciara, actress Kerry Washington, Kim Kardashian, Gabrielle Union, Jessica Alba, and Khloé Kardashian who in turn nominated many more friends. A ripple of solidarity and support is spreading and reaching more and more women.
Among the many celebrities who have embraced the challenge are Eniko Hart, Hilary Duff, Eva Longoria, Zoe Saldana, Tracee Ellis Ross, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Amy Schumer. In the difficult times that so many are facing in the world today, the challenge is showing women everywhere that they are not alone.
Bryant has revealed that she has a soft spot in her heart for Khloé Kardashian who recently sent her a sweet sheep-shaped pink flower arrangement. Bryant and Khloé have been close friends ever since her ex, Lamar Odom, played in the Lakers alongside Kobe.
DEALING WITH GRIEF
Bryant admits that she is still dealing with the grief of losing her husband and her daughter and recently shared the poignant moment she rediscovered a romantic gift from Kobe - a dress identical to one worn by "Sex and the City" character Carrie Bradshaw played by Sarah Jessica Parker.
Bryant is focused on helping her three surviving daughters, Natalia, Capri, and Bianka through the double loss of their father and their sister while coping with her own pain. And still, this amazing lady finds it in her heart to reach out to others.
