Even though Matt has been a home improvement TV host for over a decade, he has been involved in the home industry for over 20 years. It all started when he was only a teen, as he used to help his dad with construction gigs.

[Lindsay] had never seen an episode of "Yard Crashers."

MATT BLASHAW BEFORE HGTV

After a while, their collaboration became a business, and in 2007, Matt officially started his career as a licensed realtor in California. He had to take plenty of jobs to earn the respect and experience that we all see today, though.

One of his jobs was as a member of the technical services group at Disney, where he learned a lot about show effects and electrical installation.

The beginnings of Matt's business were challenging, as well. Although he had the skills, he was barely known when he started. Initially, he was hired only by his family members or from referrals.

While the first year was challenging, he kept making a name for himself with every project he successfully completed. The second year, things improved so much that he started getting phone calls with new gigs almost every day.

MATT'S BUSINESS KEPT IMPROVING

Managing all those clients became almost impossible, so even though he knew that he would lose part of his profit, he ended up hiring someone to take care of his office and calls while he was in the field. He explained:

"I needed to take the leap and expand my business before my business expanded past me."

Matt Blashaw's career skyrocketed in 2008 when he was hired as the host of "Deconstruction." Then, he worked on "Yard Crashers," "Vacation House for Free," and "Ellen's Design Challenge."

Nowadays, he is one of the most famous hosts on HGTV and the DIY Network. Apart from that, he is still working as a realtor and constructor in Orange County, California.

MATT BLASHAW AND LINDSAY ARCHER'S RELATIONSHIP

As per his love life, Matt has been married to Lindsay Archer since 2017. According to HGTV, Lindsay was hired by a landscape designer to build a plant wall in the Kansas City house that Matt was also working at.

When Lindsay, who had never seen an episode of "Yard Crashers," arrived, she saw Matt and realized that he was "cute," but also noticed that he was "crazy" as he was running around the yard.

Matt revealed they exchanged "a couple of comments," and that he liked her sense of humor. He then wanted to learn more about her, so he asked their contractor for her phone number.

Matt texted her complimenting both her plant wall and her face, and only a few days after that, they went on a date for the first time. From that point on, their relationship has been blissful.

In March 2017, a few months after their first meeting, he proposed at a Dana Point beach in California. On September 16, 2017, Lindsay officially became Matt Blashaw's wife. They tied the knot at the same Dana Point beach.

On July 31, 2018, the couple welcomed their first son, Jace William Blashaw, and he frequently makes appearances on his dad's Instagram account. Lindsay, on the other hand, has her social media accounts set to private.

Nowadays, and judging by Matt Blashaw's Instagram account, the family is doing okay. They recently celebrated Jace's second birthday by going out to a park and meeting up with some friends by the beach.
