As reported by People, the couple were “deeply concerned” for the people of Beirut as they face the aftermath of the massive explosion. At least 135 reportedly died and 5,000 were injured.

George and Amal reached out to Lebanese Red Cross, Impact Lebanon, and Baytna Baytak, three organizations providing relief on the ground. The 59-year-old actor and the Lebanese-born lawyer also hope that more people will help the victims in any way they can.

Donating to Lebanese charities is not the latest humanitarian action that the couple took. Amal and George also joined the list of Hollywood celebrities who made significant personal donations for the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

Despite hectic careers, the couple has managed to prioritize their children.

In April, the Clooneys donated $1 million to coronavirus relief efforts through six different groups fighting the global pandemic. The couple also donated $250,000 each to The Motion Picture and Television home, where the "Ocean’s 11" star is a board member, and to the SAG-AFTRA FUND.

They also donated another $250,000 to the Los Angeles Mayor’s Fund - which supports city responders and healthcare workers. The fund also provides shelter for the homeless and assistance for the elderlies affected by the pandemic.

Aside from that, the couple also donated $300,000 for COVID-19 relief to three international charities and to the Lebanese Food Bank. Also included in the said assistance is the Lombardo Italy Region which directly supports hospitals and the National Health Service.

Ever since tying the knot in 2014, Amal and George have been supportive of each other’s careers. Many fans witnessed the couple’s relationship grow stronger and better through the years.

Before their marriage, George was “confident” that Amal was the one for him. The couple met on a blind date in 2013. He said:

"I have someone who I can talk to about anything and someone who I care more about than I’ve cared about anybody."

George and Amal are proud parents of their 3-year-old twins, Alexander and Ella Clooney, whom they welcomed in 2017. Despite hectic careers, the couple has managed to prioritize their children.

Their rule, George said, is that they should never be away from each other for more than one week. They also use social media to communicate when they are in different parts of the world.

Amal, meanwhile, praised George for being the best partner and husband. The famous barrister said she never wanted to be with anyone else.

Another power couple who reached out to people affected by the pandemic are Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, who donated $1 million to areas that are “brutally-impacted” by COVID-19.

The “Deadpool” star said he and his wife chose two food bank organizations to be the recipient. The couple gave $500,000 each to Food America and Food Banks Canada.
