A woman is ready to divorce her husband after he refused to decline his dream job for her career. Although she feels bad about her decision, several Reddit users think she did the right thing.

A 33-year-old woman indulged the opinion of Reddit users to determine if she made a terrible decision by divorcing her husband. He refused to compromise his job for her career.

With specialized degrees in a particular industry, the woman is fast on her way to reaching the peak of her career.

The woman explained that she is the breadwinner of their family and currently earns over 200k per year with the potential to earn more over time.

Her husband, on the other hand, has a broad degree and work experience. Right before the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, he quit his job with the hope of getting a better one.

After sending several job applications, he finally got called for an interview at an organization. Although the job pays about 65k a year, the woman described it as her husband’s dream job in every way.

The job, however, comes with one clause. It puts the woman’s job stability at risk because her company and her husband’s organization are on opposing ends.

The woman explained that her field of work is an extremely secretive one and if clients discover her husband is working for a competitor, her reputation would be tainted.

She added that she might never be able to get a job in the industry. Although she trusts her husband, the woman noted that her clients and company would not trust him enough to let her keep working with them.

She then asked her husband to decline the job offer because if he accepts it, she will lose her income and his salary would barely be enough to sustain them.

Unlike the woman, her husband has a broader work experience and has opportunities for a wide range of jobs. The woman’s request, however, made her husband angry, and he stated that she was being selfish and only cared about money.

He believes she should be supportive of his decision and understand that his career is also a top priority. As a response to this, the woman told him he could either decline the offer or accept it and move out immediately.

If he accepts to move out, she proposed paying for his hotel bills for two weeks while they begin their divorce proceedings.

Although she feels awful about her decision, the woman believes that is her best option and several Reddit users seemed to agree with her.
