Celtics' Gordon Hayward Misses Birth of 1st Son While in NBA Bubble — See His Wife's Sweet Post

Boston Celtics’ Gordon Hayward missed the birth of his fourth child and first son with his wife, Robyn, who recently announced the arrival of the newborn on Instagram.

Gordon Hayward and his wife of six years, Robyn, just welcomed a sweet addition to their family of five. Robyn took to her Instagram to announce her infant son’s arrival to the world. She wrote:

“Our little man is finally here! This is Theo, Gordon Theodore Hayward.”

Robyn shared adorable photos of their newborn while he was sound asleep and wearing the Celtic’s colors on his onesie with his dad’s number 20 written on it.

Her caption revealed that her husband preferred to call their little boy GT, while she and their daughters were already calling him Theo.

Gordon is the only member of the family who has not met the baby. Stuck in the NBA bubble at the Walt Disney Resort in Orlando, Gordon would have to wait until he gets out before he sees his little one.

Little Theo came just hours before Gordon and his team played Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Miami Heat.

Gordon, who clearly hoped for a boy, looked disappointed that their third child was not a boy.

Missing their son’s birth was not initially part of the plan for the Celtics’ forward and his wife. He was unexpectedly forced to leave the Disney Resort during the summer after he sustained an ankle injury and needed to get treated.

While recovering at home, the basketball star decided that he needed to help his team and returned to the bubble without any plans to leave again.

The NBA star admitted that making that decision was a tricky feat. If he decided to leave the Walt Disney Resort to be present for little Theo’s birth, he would have missed out on two games due to the mandatory isolation period he would have to go through.

Gordon’s meeting with Theodore would be magical because he had been hoping to have a boy for a long while after his three daughters with Robyn.

He and Robyn got married in 2014 and welcomed their first daughter, Bernadette, a year after their nuptials, and their second daughter, Charlotte, came in 2016.

In 2018, the athlete had many social media users chuckling when Robyn posted a clip of his reaction to their third baby’s gender reveal. Gordon, who clearly hoped for a boy, looked disappointed that their third child was not a boy.

The disappointment did not last long when their sweet bundle of joy, Nora, was born, and now, the 30-year-old dad of four finally got the boy he always wanted. The Haywards really are a sweet bunch.
