'16 and Pregnant' Star Whitney Purvis' Son Dead at 16 — Details
The reality television personality's eldest child, whom she described as her angel, had been battling several medical issues before he was found unresponsive at home.
Weston Gosa, the son of "16 and Pregnant" star Whitney Purvis, passed away on June 2, 2025. The heartbreaking announcement was made by his stepmother, Amy Gosa, in a Facebook post.
"Its really difficult to write this but this morning little Weston passed away. We do not know the cause, they will do an autopsy soon but all we know is we got up this morning around 7 am and tried to wake him up, he was not breathing, we attempted cpr and called an ambulance," she penned.
Amy continued by saying that paramedics also tried to revive Weston before taking him to a hospital in Gordon County, where he was later pronounced dead.
According to her, Weston had been dealing with multiple health problems, including diabetes. "We are completely heartbroken and in shock," she wrote. "It was so unexpected. Losing a child is the most painful thing I have ever experienced and I hope I never experience it again."
In her message, she described Weston as the most incredible son she could have ever hoped for — brilliant, intelligent, funny, and full of promise. Amy expressed that the loss still didn't feel real.
The post concluded with a heartfelt plea, asking others to keep their family and Purvis in their thoughts and prayers as they mourned the bright and remarkable life that was Weston.
Shortly after the news was shared by his stepmother, Purvis also expressed her grief through an emotional post on her own Facebook page:
"This is so hard to write. [...] He was only 16 years old. Life is so cruel and unfair. I just don't understand. Oh my baby is gone and I don't know what to do with myself. He was so perfect. This is really my worst nightmare come true."
The former reality star questioned how life could possibly move forward after such a tragedy, writing that she was in disbelief and could not accept the reality of his passing. Purvis shared that she would give anything to hold her son again, admitting that words could not capture the depth of her pain.
The grieving mother declared her love for Weston, saying he was her heart and that she was incredibly proud of the young man he was becoming. She confessed that she could not imagine life without him and ended her message by calling him her angel, taken far too soon.
As the reality of her loss settled in, Purvis made another heartfelt gesture online. She changed her Facebook profile photo to a picture of herself and Weston smiling together. Alongside the image, she wrote:
"Rest in Peace, my baby Weston. I love you forever, precious. I'll never understand why life has to be so cruel. You'll always be my baby."
Looking back on Weston's early days, Purvis had previously shared the story of his birth — a journey that was documented on the reality series "16 and Pregnant."
The Georgia native and her former partner, Weston Sr. Gosa, welcomed their son in April 2009. As a first-time mother, Purvis underwent a C-section following a concerning check-up with her doctor.

During the visit, it was noted that the fetus showed minimal movement, prompting the physician to recommend monitoring to ensure the baby was not in distress. The doctor explained that fetal movement should remain consistent until delivery.
Tests revealed less-than-ideal results, leading the medical team to suggest induced labor. While in labor, the couple received distressing news — their baby was not receiving oxygen.

Purvis later admitted she remembered little from that point forward, but once the ordeal ended, her newborn, named after his father, was perfect. As life moved forward, Purvis continued to share moments of motherhood beyond her time on television.
Having appeared in season 1 of "16 and Pregnant" alongside Maci Bookout, Amber Portwood, Farrah Abraham, and Catelynn Lowell, she expanded her family in the years that followed.
In 2014, she became a mother of two with the birth of her second son, River. Nearly a decade later, in 2023, she welcomed her third child, Collin Adonis, proudly introducing him to her followers on social media.
Outside of her television fame and role as a mother, Purvis has also faced personal challenges in the public eye. In 2024, she found herself in legal trouble after failing to meet court-ordered child support obligations.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, a judge in Floyd County, Georgia, issued a warrant for her arrest after finding her in contempt of court.
Purvis was taken into custody and ordered to spend 48 hours in jail. Along with her sentence, she faced financial penalties — an additional $20 per month was added to her existing obligation, bringing her monthly payment to $353 to help cover past due support. At that time, custody of their two sons was held by Weston Sr.
The tragic loss of Weston has left his family devastated and searching for answers. Purvis, who first entered the public eye through "16 and Pregnant," has shared her heartbreak openly, honoring her son’s memory through raw and emotional tributes.
Despite life's many challenges, including legal struggles and personal hardships, her love for her children has remained constant. As the family mourns, they are surrounded by support from those who remember Weston's bright spirit and the joy he brought into their lives.
