Story of the Day: Man Goes to His Parents' Cabin for a Few Days after Wife Said She's Pregnant
Today's #storyoftheday is about a man who went to stay at his parents' cabin for some days after his wife told him she was pregnant.
The confused man, who wants to know if he acted wrongly, took to Reddit to narrate his stories for internet users. He wrote that he and his wife were planning to conceive a child, so when she finally told him she was pregnant, he wasn't caught unawares.
However, he was still a bit stunned and was experiencing anxiety about the idea of parenthood. The poster revealed that previously he was feeling apprehensive about being a father and experienced performance anxiety because of it. Still, the news of the pregnancy made it even more intense.

He often felt like he would have panic attacks and just felt a deep urge to spend some time away from her and the entire situation to ease the chaos in his mind.
So, he left home and went to his parents' cabin to stay there for a few days. During his time there, he was able to process the entire thing and felt less anxious about parenthood. He thought things through and embraced the idea of becoming a father before returning home to his wife.

However, upon getting home, she wasn't pleased with him. She told him that he shouldn't have left her with no support and all by herself. According to him, his wife believed that his decision to leave wasn't fair, as she also had fears and worries of her own but didn't run away as he did.
She also accused him of putting his mental health and well-being over that of hers and the baby. The poster doesn't agree with his wife's opinion and thinks she is overreacting, given that he called her daily and returned home in an excellent state of mind.
He explained that he understands that his wife expected a better reaction from him, but she informed him that she wouldn't object if he told her that he needed a few days to think things through.
Hence, he couldn't understand why she was upset because he left without talking to her. Now, he wants to know if he did anything wrong by leaving his pregnant wife.
Many users disagreed with him and accused him of being insensitive to his pregnant wife, mostly since the decision to conceive a child was mutual and planned. One user urged:
"How is your wife supposed to trust you now? How can she believe that you're not going to walk out when the baby's screaming or your child is sick..."
