A man's reality recently drew some internet users' attention after he confessed online to having no positive memories with his parents.

Some hours ago, a Reddit app user shared a sensitive post with his audience. After relaying a recent experience in the write-up, he wanted to know if his behavior towards his parents was inappropriate.

He began by explaining how a close friend's visit turned into an exciting affair, which caused them to talk about exciting things that happened a few years ago.

These two close pals shared different memories, like building a secret hideout in their school with a vast landmass. Their discussion ran into hours, and his parents, who were present, seemed delighted during the session.

After it ended, they wanted their son to talk about some happy memories featuring them too. Without mincing words, the young man confessed that he had nothing positive to remember. According to him, he was afraid of his parents. He wrote:

In the post, his mom was not any easier to relate to, as she trampled on her son's self-esteem by referring to him as "stupid and worthless," whenever it was time to assist him during homework.

The man used another experience where he got punished over damaging an expensive Mac charger to consolidate his stand of not having a positive memory like his parents.

His confession did not go down well with his folks, who tried to defend their parenting by claiming that their anger was mere pretense. They further mentioned that they taught him how to write but concluded that their son is "unappreciative."

In the end, the Reddit user backed up his story by confirming that fear, rather than love, ruled his relationship with his parents. He claimed:

"...all I remember is being scared of what my parents would do to me to the point I even flinch when someone give me a high five."

Despite this resolution, he wanted to know if he was inconsiderate by telling the truth. After reading the story, a large percentage of his audience agreed that he was not out of line; instead, they mostly faulted his parents' parenting skills.

Some parents went on to talk about their personal experiences with their kids, and they generally concluded that instilling fear in a child defeats the purpose of correction.

Here is another story about a man who resented his wife and called her lazy because she does not do anything in the house and also, because she didn't support their transgender son.
