Today’s story is about a woman who asked Reddit users to share their opinions about a situation with her husband and his family. The woman and her husband welcomed their last child last year, and the pregnancy was a difficult one.

At some point, it became life-threatening to both mother and child. The woman explained that her husband was not supportive during her pregnancy and would often get angry whenever she wanted to talk about it.

Additionally, he did not help with the other kids or chores around the house and ultimately got to the point of being emotionally abusive towards her. Eventually, the woman gave birth to their daughter, who was held back in the NICU for a while before being allowed to go home with her parents.

About a month after their daughter left the hospital, her husband returned to being a loving and caring man, but it was too late. The woman told her husband she wanted a divorce, but as a way of salvaging their relationship, they ended up registering for marriage counseling.

During counseling, the woman discovered that her husband suffered from Asperger’s Syndrome and was just really good at hiding it. After finding out about the diagnosis, the woman got a better understanding of some of his quirks and why he had always been socially awkward.

Her in-laws were wrong to have kept the diagnosis hidden.

Though the man was hesitant about telling anybody about his diagnosis, he finally got the courage to tell his parents about his condition. However, when he told his parents, they explained that they knew and revealed that he was diagnosed with autism when he was two.

This revelation angered the woman who felt they could have avoided their marital problems if they knew about his diagnosis earlier. She then lashed out at her husband’s parents, stating that their selfishness would be responsible if they ended up getting a divorce.

The woman, however, soon started getting calls telling her that she took the issue too far, and her husband’s Asperger’s diagnosis should not affect their relationship.

Reddit users, however, seemed to have contrary opinions, with many stating that her in-laws were wrong to have kept the diagnosis hidden. Many others also encouraged her to support her husband as they find new ways to navigate their marriage.
