Fans Gush over Al Roker's Energy at Macy's Thanksgiving Parade after Prostate Cancer Surgery

This week, “Today” co-host and weatherman Al Roker returned to his duties after taking some leave to get prostate cancer surgery. He was well enough to take part in Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade and fans loved him!

On Monday, Al Roker, 66, returned to Studio 1A at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York City. He was welcomed on set by his “Today” show colleagues Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb, Carson Daly, and Craig Melvin.

The weatherman had to take two weeks off from his duties to get prostate cancer surgery and for his recovery time. Roker revealed to his co-hosts and fans that he was now doing very well.

The weatherman noted how no cancer was found in his prostate or elsewhere in his body. He explained how he would need to go for frequent tests and checkups for the next five years to make sure the disease didn’t come back.

On Thursday, November 26, 2020, the co-host took part in co-hosting the annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. He hosted the event with the help of Guthrie and Kotb.

The “Today” show took to social media to share some behind-the-scenes of Roker posing with different guests and celebrities. The star was photographed will people like Tori Kelly and Jimmy Fallon.

Another image showed the weatherman together with the "Butter Man." The co-host appeared to be having fun with the character after last year’s playful feud during the Thanksgiving special.

Roker also took a solo photo where he was seen standing below a giant superhero-themed balloon float. In the picture, the fan-favorite star wore a face mask to stay safe amid the ongoing novel coronavirus pandemic.

The successful surgery Al Roker had; took doctors five hours to complete.

When the holiday program started, the co-host helped Macy's CEO, Jeff Gennette to cut the ribbon to kick off this year's celebration. Keeping in line with safety measures, this year’s parade wasn’t as crowded as the past years.

Fans who watched Roker hosting the parade were thrilled with his work. Several of them took to Twitter to share their praises and love for the weatherman with one follower writing:

"I just love Al Roker and his enthusiasm for Thanksgiving and the Macy's parade.”

Macy’s also tweeted the clip where Roker and Gennette were seen cutting the ribbon to start off the event. One fan replied below the post sharing how much they loved the co-host, before adding:

Another Roker fan shared their love for the weatherman’s energy while hosting the parade. A fourth person called the television personality a king with regard to hosting Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade.

Roker initially revealed his cancer diagnosis at the beginning of the month during an episode of the “Today” show. The successful surgery he had; took doctors five hours to complete.
