Daily Joke: Employer Was Having a Serious Meeting with His Workers

An employer was angry that his workers were abusing their sick leave and indulging in trivial things, so he called for a serious meeting to address it.

An employer allowed his workers to go on sick leave when they are not feeling well. He felt being considerate would enable them to be more productive at work.

After a while, he observed that his workers were abusing their sick leave, and almost everyone claimed they were ill. Office productivity began to diminish because his workers were always ill.

He called for a serious meeting to address the poor use of sick leave. He sent a memo to all his workers instructing everyone to be there, both those who had traveled and those who were in town.

During the meeting, he complained to his workers that some of them were misusing the sick leave and taking advantage of the company’s kindness. He stressed that it was affecting the company.

To buttress his point, he brought out a copy of a local newspaper with one of their members on the front page for emerging the champion of local golf competition.

The worker had claimed that he was ill and had taken sick leave only to participate in the local tournament, which he ended up with almost a perfect score. His boss was irritated by his gimmicks.

Holding the newspaper copy, the boss yelled, “ this man called in sick yesterday.” There was total silence in the hall as everyone tried to keep a straight face, but a comment from one of the workers left everyone laughing. Interrupting his boss, the worker said,

"Wow, think of the score he could have had if he hadn’t been sick!"
