The shocking deaths of the award-winning music producer and her husband have not only sparked a homicide investigation but also raised questions about a prior security scare at their Encino home just days earlier, one that may now hold new significance.

Robin Kaye, a veteran music supervisor for "American Idol," was found dead alongside her husband, Thomas Deluca, inside their Los Angeles home in Encino. Both were 70 years old.

According to police, they were each shot in the head, and their deaths are being investigated as a double homicide.

Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to the couple's residence, located on the 4700 block of White Oak Avenue, at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Monday, July 14. They had been called to conduct a welfare check after family members reported not having heard from the couple in four days.

Upon arrival, officers observed blood near the front entrance. They broke a window to enter and found Kaye and Deluca in separate rooms, each suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities initially found no evidence of forced entry or burglary, and the interior of the home was not ransacked. Surveillance footage is currently under review. A police helicopter flew over the area at the time of the welfare check, but no suspect was located.

An earlier incident at the same address may be linked to the homicides. On July 10, around 4 p.m., police were called to the residence after someone was seen trying to enter the property. Neighbor Amee Faggen confirmed that a renter on her property saw someone climbing the fence and called 911.

Officers who responded at that time found no signs of forced entry or suspicious activity and left after searching the property. Investigators now believe that the suspect, identified as 22-year-old Encino resident Raymond Boodarian, entered the home through an unlocked door.

At a news conference, LAPD Lt. Guy Golan explained, "He was there for approximately half of an hour. When the homeowners returned back to their residence, a violent struggle ensued between them and the suspect, who was already inside their home, which resulted in the victims tragically losing their lives."

Police say Boodarian fled the area on foot after the fatal confrontation.

On July 16, LAPD, with assistance from the FBI's Fugitive Task Force, arrested Boodarian. No details have been released regarding where he was taken into custody. Authorities are investigating whether he had any prior connection to the couple or involvement in the earlier call for service.

Kaye worked on "American Idol" for at least 15 seasons, according to her IMDb page. She also contributed to "Lip Sync Battle," "Miss Universe," the NAACP Image Awards, and other major productions. She received multiple Guild of Music Supervisors Awards throughout her career.

The Encino property where the murders occurred was previously owned by the late rapper Juice WRLD, adding further public interest to the case.

A statement from "American Idol" paid tribute to Kaye, saying: "We are devastated to hear of Robin and her dear husband Tom's passing. Robin has been a cornerstone of the Idol family since 2009 and was truly loved and respected by all who came into contact with her. Robin will remain in our hearts forever and we share our deepest sympathies with her family and friends during this difficult time."

Guy Cohen, a security consultant with SecureIT Homes, revealed that he had worked with the couple following a prior burglary. "We consulted with them just a couple of months ago and to think that maybe we could've prevented this from happening is just heartbreaking," he said. He also described the couple as "super nice people" and "super down-to-earth."

The tragic news has prompted an outpouring of grief from the "American Idol" community and beyond. As the investigation continues, those who worked closely with Kaye are remembering her not just for her professional excellence but for the deep personal impact she had on those around her.

Casey Abrams, a former "American Idol" contestant, shared a throwback photo with Kaye and expressed his sorrow in a brief but heartfelt message.

Rayvon Owen, another alum of the series, shared a longer tribute that reflected on the close bond he developed with Kaye during Season 14. He wrote, "Robin was such a huge part of my Idol journey. We'd talk almost every day during Season 14 and she always kept it real."

He remembered her as someone who constantly challenged and supported him, helping guide him through each stage of the competition.

Owen also shared a recent memory of reuniting with Kaye. "I'm really grateful I got to hug her recently and tell her I loved and missed her," he mentioned. Their meeting coincided with a celebration of Jamal Roberts' historic win on the show — the first Black male winner since Ruben Studdard.

In his post, Owen mentioned that fellow Season 14 contestant Nick Fradiani had reached out to him after learning the news.

Fradiani, who was staying at the same hotel where the "American Idol" finale had once taken place, joined Owen in reflecting on the intense and formative experience they all shared. "Hollywood definitely feels a little dimmer today," Owen added.
