Daily Riddle: A Girl Has as Many Brothers as Sisters
Having a large family can be amazing but sometimes confusing for outsiders. This is the case for a girl who has as many brothers as she does sisters, but each brother has half as many brothers as sisters.
Here is a lovely riddle to help add a little fun to your day. A girl comes from a large family. She has as many brothers as sisters. However, there happens to be a little twist to her family tree.
Each brother has only half as many brothers as sisters. Can you tell how many sisters and brothers there are altogether in the family? Hint: keep your counting and observations simple.
Answer: There are four sisters and three brothers in the family. The key to getting the answer is to count the sisters and brothers in total and then in relation to the number of siblings they have.
HOW MANY CATS
Here is another fun riddle for you. A teacher asked a student named Johnny a tricky question during class. She said, “If I gave you two cats, and another two cats, and another two, how many would you have?”
Johnny confidently answered seven. She cleared her throat and asked him the question again, only this time slowly, but to her disappointment, Johnny still gave seven as his answer. Frustrated, she chose to rephrase it, saying:
“Let me put it to you differently. If I gave you two apples, and another two apples, and another two, how many would you have?”
Johnny thought about it for a while and said six was the answer. The teacher was impressed and decided to ask him the original question about the cats. However, Johnny answered that it was seven.
The teacher became frustrated, and so was Johnny. He was confident that the correct answer was seven. Why do you think so? Hint: think outside the box. Well, the answer is that Johnny already had a cat at home.
