Police Are Looking for a Suspect In the Murder of a 17-Year-Old on Mother's Day

Mother’s Day was meant to be a happy celebration, but it turned into a tragedy for an Arizona family. Their teenage son was murdered on the day, and police are looking for a suspect.

On May 9, 2021, police received a call at around 8:30 p.m. concerning a shooting on 67th and Encantó in Phoenix, Arizona. The Phoenix fire crew arrived at the scene of the crime and pronounced one person dead.

Police later identified the person as Erin Carrillo Felix, 17. When he was shot dead, Erin was hanging out with friends at Desert West Park, and a GoFundMe account has since been created to cover funeral expenses.

Family member, Audrey Cabral Felix, was the one who organized the fundraiser. She described the late victim as a man of their heart and paid tribute to him by sharing about who he was, stating:

“He loved his family very much and showed it often, especially with his cousins and siblings.”

Audrey shared what a very joyful person Erin had been and knew how to bring life to everything he was involved in. She described him as having had contagious laughter and as the first grandson in his family.

Mourning his death, Audrey said he hadn’t deserved to die the way he did. The Carrillo Felix family is currently dealing with the pain they’re suffering from Erin’s loss on Mother's Day and would never forget him.

They explained that the GoFundMe account was created to help them during this difficult time. The fundraiser was closed by Audrey after it managed to raise $6,635 to assist the Carrillo Felix family.

Alex Rodda was involved in a sexual relationship with Matthew Mason and he didn’t want it known.

The park where Erin was killed has since become a memorial to the late teenager, with candles, balloons, and flowers adorning the place. Erin’s cousin, Grasiela Angulo, wanted justice for him.

According to “AZFamily.com,” Angulo wanted to know why the murderer had killed her cousin. She emotionally noted how this had cost her family as Erin had been a loving and big-hearted person.

Erin’s mother was struggling to come to terms with how her child was taken away, and she’s looking for answers. Police are still trying to find the suspect and the motive behind the shooting.

Another young person Alex Rodda, 15, sadly lost his life in 2019 when Matthew Mason, 19, killed him in Ashley, Cheshire. The student was involved in a sexual relationship with Mason, and he didn’t want it known.

Mason killed Rodda after the victim threatened to get in touch with Mason’s girlfriend with “flirty” text messages. On January 25, 2021, the suspect was sentenced after claiming the murder was self-defense.
